The Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s next installment in their Masterworks series features the music of Sibelius & Shostakovich performed in Auer Performance Hall at Purdue University Music Center on Saturday, Jan. 18.
Featuring renowned violin virtuoso Paul Huang and conducted by Andrew Constantine, this program aims to first captivate attendees with Sibelius’ “Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47,” a masterpiece showcasing technical brilliance and emotional depth.
The night concludes with Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 10 in E minor, Op. 93,” a powerful and dynamic work that reflects the tumultuous spirit of its time.
Huang, a recipient of the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, is considered as one of the most distinctive artists of his generation.
