Bach Collegium Fort Wayne will commemorate the 300th anniversary of the creation of Bach’s masterpiece, St. John Passion, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.

Artistic Director Koji Otsuki will lead the production featuring Bach Collegium singers and early instrumentalists with natural trumpet — a brass instrument similar to a long bugle with no valves.

The earliest of the surviving Passions by Bach, it was written during his first year as director of church music in Leipzig, Germany, and was first performed April 7, 1724, at Good Friday Vespers at the St. Nicholas Church. This perfect Easter season event takes place at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
