With the Three Rivers Festival just around the corner (July 12-20), get ready for an array of live music jammed into the nine-day festival, including the disco sounds of The Boogie Wonder Band, the eight-piece funk-rock act Here Come the Mummies, local rock legends The Band Brother, the Motown sounds of Touch, rockers Pop Evil, and Back to the ’90s with Rob Base, Young MC, and C+C Music Factory featuring Freedom Williams.
Of course, there will be a great number of local acts peppered throughout the week as well.
If you plan to attend more than one show during the week, the fine folks at TRF have a good deal for you. For only $60 you can purchase the Admiral’s Access Membership which gets you the Mega Music Pass (entry to every concert), 16 drink tickets, early entry to each show, and an official festival button. Now that’s a heck of a steal considering that’s the price for one show these days.
There’s also a Family package for $269 that gets you 4 Mega Music Passes, 24 drink tickets, early entry, four festival buttons, and four all-day midway wristbands. Definitely something worth considering.
If you’re interested in the Admiral Access Membership, you can order at threeriversfestival.org or by calling (260) 426-5556. Let the festivities begin!
Go Back to the ’80s
You can never go wrong with an ’80s party. It’s the chance to throw on some leg warmers, tease the hair, and get down to some totally tubular music.
That’s exactly what’s expected of you on the evening of Saturday, August 24, for ’80s Night at Headwaters Park. It will be the perfect opportunity for you and your friends to get dressed in ’80s attire and head downtown. In fact, the best costume could land you $100.
The event will also include food trucks, a full bar, and games such as beer pong, cornhole, and flip cup. This is an event for ages 21 and up.
Furthermore, Casual Friday & Kenny Redd will supply live music by the likes of Duran Duran, Prince, Bon Jovi, Tears for Fears, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and more. Tickets for ’80s Night are $5 in advance and $10 at the gate and can be purchased through Eventbrite. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne.
Megadeth live
Grammy Award-winning bassist, author, and entrepreneur David Ellefson returns to Sweetwater on Tuesday, July 23 at 7p.m. for a free event.
That evening, Ellefson will be joined by partner/vocalist Thom Hazaert for a Q&A session and an intimate live set in the state-of-the-art Sweetwater Performance Theatre.
The two are set for a can’t-miss performance of Megadeth favorites as well as new tracks from Ellefson’s latest solo record, Sleeping Giants.
You’ll also have the opportunity to get your hands on the copy of his latest book, More Life with Deth. I cannot wait to get a copy of this, having read his previous work.
If you’ve never made it out to Sweetwater for one of these free performances, it is truly an experience for any music lover out there.
All you have to do is go to sweetwater.com and get registered to reserve your seat.
