Over the last month or so, more and more local musicians are stepping out and performing. That’s great news since live music performed in front of real people has been in short supply. However, some establishments aren’t ready to take the jump. For example, Brass Rail owner Corey Rader is in no rush to open the doors since he feels it’s still too risky to be doing live music in a small indoor space. He will continue to watch data before making definite plans to reopen. But if you’re getting bored watching livestreams, a  glance at Whatzup’s music calendar will give you more than 20 shows on any given weekend. So get out, be safe, and take in some live music like the good old days. Also, if your band is performing, submit your show to the Whatzup calendar online at whatzup.com/submit. HIppie Living comes to Buck Lake RanchBuck Lake Ranch in Angola will host the Hippie Living Fair on the weekend of Sept. 11-13. Bring your rebellious, independent spirit to come celebrate your inner hippie at the gathering which features hundreds of artists and artisans, a retro vintage market, healthy and yummy foods, music, primitive camping, and more. The list of music performers is being finalized but I do know that Grateful Groove are slated for Saturday afternoon. The event will take place 3-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. Tickets for the Hippie Living Fair can be purchased through Eventbrite. Bloom Fest in Leo-CedarvilleSpeaking of festivals, on Saturday, Aug. 29, Bloom Fest will take place at the beautiful Riverside Gardens Park in Leo-Cedarville from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The third annual event will celebrate local arts and nature with more than 70 local artists of all mediums, various artisans, children’s activities, and food trucks.Bands include Todd Roth of Unlikely Alibi, Teresa Lyon of MindsEye, Whoa Man!, Night to Remember, Sunny Taylor, and Gypsy Soul with Triniti McFarland and Eva Misserbiev. Hop on out for this free family-friendly, unique shopping experience. Find refuge in this ‘Sanctuary’James and the Drifters just dropped a new single, “Sanctuary.” At slightly over four minutes, this wonderful piece can be found on all streaming services. The latest single is a follow-up to “Thunder,” a track they released in early March.
