A collection of 19 Grammy Awards including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, two Emmy Awards, and a Kennedy Center Honor — we must be talking about the one and only Tony Bennett.
Having celebrated his 93rd birthday in August, his career as a pre-eminent singer of the 20th and 21st centuries is unprecedented. He continues to be embraced and loved by audiences of all generations.
Lucky for us, Bennett is not slowing down and will be making his way to the Summit City on Sunday, Nov. 3, to perform at the Embassy Theatre, a perfect setting for this special performance, one you truly won’t want to miss.
Bennett’s daughter, Antonia Bennett, has been touring with her father and will open the show that evening with a collection of jazz/pop standards. She is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
Tickets for the show are currently on sale through the Star Bank box office at the Embassy, online at Ticketmaster.com, or by calling (800) 745-3000. You best act quick though as I wouldn’t expect them to last long.
Badfish Come back to the clyde
There’s a reason Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime is returning to the Clyde Theatre on Saturday, Feb, 15, 2020 — they are one fine outfit and solid tribute. The two previous Clyde engagements had the packed venue in awe throughout the journey of Sublime hits and deep cuts off Sublime’s three albums. What Badfish does so well is add their own twist on certain songs but still maintaining the energetic spirit of Sublime.
You can witness for yourself that evening when they come aboard the Under the Sun tour. This is Valentine’s weekend, so after you treat your squeeze to dinner, head on over to the Clyde to let loose.
Joining them on tour will be the Cleveland funk act Tropidelic and the alt hip-hop duo Little Stranger.
Band Brother in Defiance
The Band Brother will soon be heading across the border to Defiance, Ohio, to headline the Defiance Rib Fest on Saturday, Sept. 28. That day, the streets of downtown Defiance will be filled with mouth-watering BBQ, ice-cold brews, and live music.
In addition to The Band Brother, Kaitlyn Schmit and The Move will hit the stage and supply a variety of country, pop, ’90s, and R&B. The musical entertainment will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m. Definitely worth the trip!
Middle Waves Looks to June 2020
With the great weather we’ve been embraced by as of late, one can only imagine what Middle Waves would have been like this year.
You have to admit, September felt a little empty without all the hype for the two-day festival that invaded the grounds of Headwaters Park the past three years. If you recall, when organizers announced that the festival was taking this year off, they did insure MW would be back next year bigger and better.
Well, it looks as if they’re sticking with their word as just a few days ago a MW Facebook event was created for the weekend of June 12 and 13, 2020. Yes, they are bumping it up a few months from the traditional September dates. What it didn’t mention is where the festival will be held next year.
We’ll have to stay tuned for that but, as of right now, I’m just stoked that an official date has been set. Just like their event page states, “High fives and good time coming soon.”
