Don’t look now, but we’re officially in the month of December. Where did the year go? Now in the holiday season, you won’t have any issues finding Christmas activities to take part in. Festival of Trees, Festival of Lights, Festival of Gingerbread, and a whole slew of other festive activities are here for you to sink your teeth into.
One local tradition is the C2G Christmas show that takes place every December in the C2G Music Hall, featuring an evening full of beloved Christmas classics performed by a handful of top-notch local acts. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. Set to perform are Will Certain, The Beef Manhattans with Mike Conley, The Sunny Taylor Band, Smooth Edge 2, and Pop ‘N’ Fresh. Proceeds from the event will go to Community Harvest Food Bank.
Tickets for C2G Christmas can be purchased through Etix.com for $6 general admission and $12 gold circle seating.
Countdown to Bowie Live at C2G
In addition to the Xmas show, C2G will be kicking off the new year with a special tribute show on the evening of Friday, Jan. 4. BowieLive: The Ultimate David Bowie Tribute recreates the legendary glam rocker’s timeless classics that forever changed the face of pop culture.
I never got to experience Bowie in concert and I’m sure I speak for many others. With BowieLive, it’s probably the closest we’re going to get.
Frontman Chris Theoret has Bowie’s voice and moves down to a T. With the many different musical styles Bowie had over his decades of work, that is no easy task. BowieLive has been known to perform more than 30 songs during a performance which is a Bowie fans dream come true. Whether it’s “Space Oddity,” “Blue Jean,” or “Rebel Rebel,” BowieLive goes through extraordinary lengths to pull the experience off. Come see for yourself. Tickets for the show can be purchased through Etix.com.
Beer and ‘cheese’ at hop river
Hop River Brewing is joining in on the Christmas festivities with a special shindig of their own. On Friday, Dec. 14, they will be hosting ’Tis The Season: Music, Beer, & ’80s Framily Portraits Party.
Grab your friends and family (or “framily”) and head down to pose in front of a dazzling backdrop, dressed in your ugly sweaters and red plaid homemade dresses. The cheesier, the better. You can do prom poses or perhaps recreate ’80s Sears portraits, whatever you like. You can guarantee it will be a night full of laughs.
In addition, the event will include live music by Nashville folk singer songwriter Graci Phillips. So put on that tacky holiday outfit and head out for what is sure to be a fun evening. If anything, these could make for a good Christmas card to send to grandma.
