Philadelphia progressive rockers Circa Survive recently announced they are hitting the road next year aboard the Blue Sky Noise 10 Year Anniversary tour. Lucky for us, the tour stops in the Summit City on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, at the Clyde Theatre.
This incredibly progressive band creates a sound that combines punk and alternative roots that compares to few but appeals to many. They have been going strong for 15-plus years now and have gained a diverse and sweeping oeuvre of music under their belts.
This show is a gem and the Clyde deserves a big thank you for snagging it. General admission tickets go on sale Oct. 25 at 10 a.m.
Guitar virtuoso comes back to Fort
In addition to Circa Survive, the Clyde also announced guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson would be taking the stage in 2020. Johnson has been on a prolific odyssey over the course of more than four decades. On Sunday, Feb. 23, he will return to the Clyde. Whether you saw him last time at the Clyde or at Gear Fest, you know what’s in store for us. Tickets go on sale Oct. 25 at 10 a.m.
Strong Ladies of Arm Wrestling 2
The Tiger Room at Welch’s Ale House will be the setting for the second S.L.A.W. (Strong Ladies of Arm Wrestling) competition on Sunday, Nov. 3. S.L.A.W. is a full-on, glitz-and-glam bracket-style arm-wrestling tournament that’s all about pageantry, show, and fun. The first installment went over so well a few months back that it was decided to move to The Tiger Room, a bigger venue.
Do you have bulging biceps, glitter, and fringe? If so, this may be your calling. If not, feel free to sit back and cheer on your favorite gals. The competition will take place from 5-8 p.m. and feature special guest emcee Della Lish McGee. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door with proceeds donated to the Fort Wayne Center for Nonviolence.
Hop on the trainhoppers train
The last full band performance of the year for The Legendary Trainhoppers will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. The guys are scheduled to perform outdoors in The Sculpture Garden at Fort Wayne Museum of Art for an autumnal set of new and old favorites. You can bet it will be a bit chilly, so plan to bring a blanket and throw on a flannel. Chairs will be provided as well as warm and cold drinks for purchase.
From what I hear, the Trainhoppers are going to record this show for an upcoming release, which is even more of a reason to attend. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
Comedy at CSW
Columbia Street West will open its doors to comedy on the evening of Monday, Nov. 25. Taking the stage will be none other than Ryan Niemiller, who captured the hearts of America with his run on America’s Got Talent.
Despite being born with a disability in both arms, Niemiller, the self-proclaimed “Cripple Threat of Comedy” shares his views of the world from the perspective of the handicapped. He tackles issues such as dating and finding employment in a way that makes you think while laughing the entire time. This will be a good one! Tickets are available through Brownpapertickets.com.
