The Allman Betts Band have found themselves aboard the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion’s ever-growing summer lineup on the evening of Friday, Aug. 30.
The Allman Betts Band is the latest creation by Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, son of Dickey Betts — both fathers are of Allman Brothers fame.
After successfully touring last year as “The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts,” the sons of southern rock decided to take it one step further and completely join forces. In addition to Allman and Betts, the band is comprised of Berry Oakley Jr. (son of original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley), Johnny Stachela, R. Scott Bryan, and John Lum. Together, they have a new album coming out this spring and a lengthy tour to support it.
Tickets for The Allman Betts Band go on sale Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. at the Sweetwater campus, Neat Neat Neat Records, all three Wooden Nickel Music locations, and online at sweetwaterpavilion.com.
Cooper to Haunt Honeywell
Speaking of announcements, the mighty Alice Cooper returns to the Hoosier state on Thursday, July 11, for a performance at the Ford Theater at the Honeywell Center. Now 71 years old, “The Godfather of Shock Rock” is showing no signs of letting up with lengthy tours every year. Those of you who have had the pleasure of seeing Cooper know that the man performs at a championship level. Come see for yourself! Tickets for Cooper go on sale Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m.
Chicago’s Byron visits the fort
On Friday, April 12, round up the crew and head out to 2 Toms Brewing, 3676 Wells St., for an evening of folk/American music with singer-songwriter Jack Byron. The Chicago native will perform an eclectic setlist of original tunes in addition to music from such artists as Van Morrison, Jason Isbell, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, and Ryan Adams. Byron will start strumming at 7 p.m. so make sure to get out and snag a good seat.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of checking out 2 Tom’s yet, this would be the opportune time to do so. Great place, great brew!
Expect a ‘BUtt Dial’ in your future
Last month, Auburn’s own The Band Cheyenne filmed a music video for their new single “Butt Dial.” The majority of the filming took place at Mimi’s Retreat in Auburn and features many of their fans as extras. Be on the lookout for this fine piece coming soon.
In addition, the band recently announced that they’ll be opening for outlaw country icon David Allan Coe at Flashback’s Live on Friday, June 28. Tickets are available via eventbrite.com and aren’t expected to last long.
Neat nEat Neat Fills up RSD Lineup
Neat Neat Neat Records have announced their music lineup for the upcoming Record Store Day on Saturday, April 13, and it’s a good one.
Kicking things off at 11 a.m. will be The Dan Smyth Band followed by FloStorm, Jess Flame Thrower, Adam Baker and The Heartache, Boat Show, Burial Party, Anna Faye, Jared Andrews, Sirius Blvck, Rosalind & The Way, and James and the Drifters. By the looks of that, you’ll want to make sure you have nothing planned that day.
Of course, there will be a number of Record Store Day exclusive releases, Bravas will be onsite serving up savory goodness, and Upland Brewery will be there to quench your thirst.
