Fresh off their virtual Embassy Theatre performance, Namen Namen have released a music video for their new tune “Big Brute Prison Blues.”
The video doesn’t necessary have a storyline, special effects, or a celebrity cameo. To be honest, it doesn’t even need it. The video is basically Dylan, Rob, Kellen, and Zara jamming in the midnight hour at a local park. They venture to the swing set, go down a slide, and spit in a pond.
For the three-plus-minutes, you’ll be entertained with their quirky antics as well as a solid tune. So sit back, escape some of the craziness, pull up YouTube, and enjoy the video.
Namen Namen have been busy writing and recording, so be on the lookout for more in the future.
Start Spreading the Muse
If you haven’t had the opportunity to catch Namen Namen live in action, they will be at The Muse on Main on Friday, Jan. 29, for the Midwest Expression: Art and Music Showcase. From 7-11 p.m., you can enjoy music by Carter Ryan, Loitersack, and Namen Namen, as well as taking in an array of visual art by the likes of Galeena Gephart, Alice Constant, Valerie Rose, Oliver Saurer, Abby Schwants, Kerisa Daenens, Blaise Martin, Philip McConnell, Katie Slick, and Zion Omari.
Some of the artists will have their works for sale, so bring a few extra bucks so you can bring a piece into your home and give your favorite artist the exposure they deserve. All ages are welcome with a $10 cover.
Tune in to new morning show
Have you given a listen to 96.3XKE’s new Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning Show during your commute? The syndicated morning talk show, broadcast primarily from WGRD in Grand Rapids, Mich., is hosted by Gregg “Free Beer” Daniels, Chris “Hot Wings” Michels, Joe Gassman, Kelly “Cheese” Cheesborough, and producer Steve McKiernan.
Although the show doesn’t feature music, they deliver four hours of brilliant, funny radio every day. If you haven’t yet, tune in and give it a whirl every weekday from 6-10 a.m. The addition replaces The Bob & Tom Show which was recently moved to 1250 AM WGL.

Metal Night
Carl’s Tavern in New Haven will play host to a night of metal at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. The lineup features local stalwarts Coffin Witch, Cremated Souls, and Blood of Heroes, plus the San Antonio outfit PigWeed.
Inspired by the likes of Metallica, Korn, Deftones, Tool, and Slipknot, PigWeed’s sound embraces various flavors of metal, punk, hardcore, and progressive. Since their formation in 2009, they have shared stages with acts like Volbeat, Mushroomhead, Drowning Pool, Kittie, and Powerman 5000.
