Despite all the craziness we have been dealt this year, the Hubie Ashcraft Band and The Y’s Guys remained active throughout with an abundance of live performances. Both will be saying sayonara to 2020 with special New Year’s Eve celebrations.
On Thursday, Dec. 31, Hubie and his cohorts will perform at Flashback Live beginning at 9 p.m. Come out for food and drink specials and some toe-tapping hits. Be sure to call ahead and reserve a table at (260) 422-5292.
The Y’s Guys will hit the stage at Mitchell’s Sports Bar around the same time. With their high-energy cover songs and juiced up sets, these cats bring the party.
New Year, new laughs
If you would rather take in some laughs on New Year’s Eve, The Fort Wayne Comedy Club at 1324 Minnich Road in New Haven has a special dual headline comedy bash lined up that evening.
In fact, there will be two shows, 7:15 p.m. and 10 p.m., both featuring Vince Morris (BET’s Comic View, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, CBS’ Late Late Show) and Dave Landau (Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, NBC’s Last Comic Standing).
There will be party favors and a champagne toast included in your ticket price.
Tickets can be purchased via Fortwaynecomedyclub.com. Only 40 people are allowed in each show, so hit them up quick.
Another super-mega-maxi single
A couple of issues ago, I mentioned that local guitarist Kellen Baker has released a new three-song EP, Super-Mega-Maxi Single #1.
With so much positive feedback, Baker felt inclined to go another round. Super-Mega-Maxi Single #2 just hit all major streaming sites and this time around consists of four healthy new tracks for your listening pleasure.
From start to finish, this is another stellar release by the talented Baker. My favorite is the closing track “Smell of the Mask,” which is a catchy little number with a title that seems quite fitting these days.
