Frequent guests of The Glory Hub may have noticed a recent name change to the all-ages concert and event venue at 1501 E. Berry St.
Under new ownership and recently rebranded as The Vibes Venue, the establishment’s focus remains the same — showcase and support local and national touring artists.
Support the new owners on Friday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. for “Kickstart the Vibe” featuring an evening of live music, a live painting by Hannah Pease, a raffle drawing, and more. Performers include Kyle Osborn, Jared Schneider, Doorgirl, Jaydid, and Zion Omari. Tickets for this event can be purchased now through Eventbrite.
Also on the schedule will be a rap battle on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. that will have participants throw down some verbal warfare and see who has the meanest flow. The Ruin will be on site serving drinks, so this is a 21 and over event.
The other event they have booked takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17, and will feature some local hip-hop and rap scene including Young Davey, Casey the Kid, Clarky, Khamarry, and more.
I look forward to seeing what The Vibes Venue adds to the scene.
Fort Wayne Fireworks set for Nov. 10
The City of Fort Wayne announced a new date for this year’s fireworks show at downtown’s Indiana Michigan Power Center.
The special event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, the eve of Veterans Day. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate those who have sacrificed for our country than with a patriotic fireworks display.
The City of Fort Wayne, Allen County Board of Commissioners, NAI Hanning & Bean, and the Three Rivers Festival will serve as sponsors for the display, which was originally planned for July 4.
The fireworks will be visible from several locations in and around the downtown area, so attendees are asked to use various locations and spread out to help ensure the safety of the public.
Left lane Cruiser hits the road
Through the entirety of this pandemic, Left Lane Cruiser has supplied their fanbase with barn-burning livestream performances. The hour-plus shows have been a delight for all LLC fans as headman Freddy “Joe” Evans IV takes a journey through the band’s extensive catalog and offers some surprises.
LLC have now announced a couple of actual live shows. On Saturday, Sept. 26, the band will cross the border for an outdoor performance at Buzz Bomb Brewing Co. in Springfield, Ill.
Next, they will travel to Indianapolis on Saturday, Oct. 17, to perform at the Hi-Fi Annex. You will get your money’s worth on this trip as LLC will headline an evening that includes performances by Myron Elkins and the Dying Breed, Tyler Lance Walker Gill, and Isaac Rudd and The Revolvers. Just so you know, the Hi-Fi Annex is a temporary open-air venue located in the back parking lot of the Murphy Arts Center.
Grateful Groove at The Ruin
The last few months have seen Grateful Groove performing Jerry Garcia’s Birthday Bash and the Hippie Living Fair, both at Buck Lake Ranch in Angola.
Next, you can catch them on Friday, Sept. 18, at The Ruin. The Grateful Groove Block Party will be outdoors and all ages. Masks are encouraged, so throw on your favorite and get ready to boogie.
