The generation that grew up in the ’90s is now officially old enough to get out and make a living. It’s hard to believe that these folks that lived through slow internet speed, big cell phones, and Saved by the Bell managed to survive.
No matter why you love ’90s music, Flashback Live is taking care of you on Friday, Jan. 25, with Fool House: The Ultimate ’90s Dance Party. Hailing from Chicago, Fool House is a cover band with choreographed dance moves and foolish humor. Imagine hearing tunes by Bell Biv Devoe, Backstreet Boys, MC Hammer, NSYNC, 50 Cent, Ricky Martin, Beastie Boys, and Blink 182.
Does that sound like a party to you? To be honest, I don’t know a whole lot of bands that cover that material which makes this even more intriguing.
Advance tickets are on sale through Eventbrite with a few different ticketing options- general admission, VIP, and Ultimate ’90s Package (include a fanny pack). Come out and relive the glory days.

The guys recently put their final touches on the album, which marks the fourth in their catalog. This 12-track gem was recorded in keyboardist’s Nick LaMendola’s home studio and mixed by Anthony Longano.
Together, the band brings billowing enthusiasm to every track on the album including “Power Moves,” “Funny Time Clock Juice,” and “Bettie Page Mannequin.” 2 Before Noon has a release party slated for 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Welch’s Ale House. Come out for a chilled evening and spend your hard-earned money on Same Kind of Weird. You will not be disappointed.
James and the Drifters’ top-notch video
I love seeing some of the music videos that our local acts come up with. Just the other day, I got to see the video for “Tides,” the new single by James and the Drifters. Wow, well done!
This high-quality piece was filmed downtown on The Landing by Lofthouse Films and stands up to anything I’ve ever seen. The guys had a special release for the video at midnight on New Year’s Day.
“Tides” is from their upcoming release The Glow, which will be out on Feb. 1. You can pre-order this bad boy on their website at jamesandthedrifters.com, but until then, search for the video on YouTube.
Right now, the band doesn’t have any gigs on their calendar, but you can guarantee we’ll be getting a healthy dose of them this year.
