Local singer-songwriter James Ellsworth (formerly of Clusterfolk), is set to release his third album, Flinging Woo.
“It is a tribute of sorts to those who cast their hearts about wildly-flinging woo in all directions,” shared an excited Ellsworth.
This 17-song compilation is the successor to his other gems, Circle the Wagons and Heart on Sleeve. Ellsworth wasn’t alone in making Flinging Woo as a handful of locals lent their expertise, including Duane Eby, Sara Ellsworth-Hoffman, Dave Kartholl, Sean Ellsworth-Hoffman, Derek Reeves, Dan Dickerson, Felix Moxter, Jean Heald, and more.
In honor of the release, Ellsworth has a release party lined up for Saturday, May 11, on the patio at Hop River Brewing from 6-9 p.m. Come out for a tasty brew, grab a seat by the fire pit, and get ready to take in some jaw-dropping music under the stars. Backing up Ellsworth that evening will be none other than Lizzie eHoff & Her Cough.
Ellsworth is also playing at Chapman’s Brewing Company in Angola from 6-9 p.m. on May 2.
EART Release in May
Speaking of releases, Exterminate All Rational Thought have announced their upcoming release, Chromatophores, will be out on Saturday, May 18.
According to the band, this record is the result of the last few years spent trying to better themselves as musicians, composers, songwriters, and as a band as a whole.
To coincide with the release, they have a party mined up that evening at the Brass Rail, which will be celebrated with their instrumental prog pals Moser Woods. Information on pre-ordering Chromatophores will be coming soon, so be on the lookout.
Be Colony opens for Jared James Nichols
The Be Colony received word that they’ll be joining Jared James Nichols at The Club Room at The Clyde on Tuesday, May 14, at 8 p.m.
Nichols is best known for his high-energy performances and pick-less electric guitar playing technique. He fronts a power trio under his name that is rooted in the early 1970 hard-rock vein of Cream and Mountain. Imagine that paired with the psychedelia, early ’70s rock and soul of The Be Colony. Look out!
In addition, Nichols has done his share of touring with acts like Kid Rock, Glenn Hughes, Zakk Wylde, UFO, L.A. Guns, and more. It will be a pleasure to have him here in the Fort.
If you’ve been lucky enough to check out the new Club Room, then you know how special and intimate this show will be. If you haven’t, then I can’t think of a better time to scope it out. This is an all ages show with tickets at $15 in advance and $18 day of.
Left Lane Cruiser Flies To Europe
Left Lane Cruiser will once again be packing up their gear and heading across the pond to perform in Germany. Now, how cool is that? I mean, some bands never get that sort of opportunity and LLC is doing it once or twice a year.
On June 29, they’ll be taking the stage at Raut Oak Fest, a three-day festival in Reigsee, Germany. A few acts from the States are also on the bill including Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, James Leg, Radio Moscow, Lonesome Shack, and more. Great job, LLC!
