In celebration of another successful year for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, the museum will host The Labor Day Classic Car Concert on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 6-9 p.m.
The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic tested the resilience of their institution and forced the staff to get creative to maintain the functionality of the museum.
To this point, they have been hosting both indoor and outdoor events and are seeing overall attendance levels on track with 2019.
The Labor Day Classic Car Concert is free in order to thank the local community for their generosity in helping the museum continue its mission. The event will feature food trucks, a cash bar, and live music from the Sweetwater All Stars.
Those planning to attend this family-friendly event are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Pixies stick close to home
Citing their concern with the Delta variant of COVID-19, the alt-rock group Pixies have announced they are scraping their fall tour. Their dates included multiple sold-out shows, as well as an appearance at the Foellinger Theatre on Sept. 14.
Yes, I am as bummed as you are, but hopefully when we get on the other side of this pandemic we have the opportunity to see the Pixies in town. Ticket holders can obtain refunds from point of purchase.
Robertson Passes
Well-known humorist and motivational speaker Jeanne Robertson died unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the age of 77.
Robertson was due to perform at the Honeywell Center on Sept. 16 for “The Still Rocking Tour.” Tickets are refundable at the point of purchase. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Fort Wayne Gets STP
Hats off to the folks at Piere’s Entertainment Center for booking the mighty Stone Temple Pilots on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Although some of the members have been to town in other projects throughout the years, STP have not performed in Fort Wayne since their 1997 show at Memorial Coliseum. If I recall, that show was a sellout.
The band, now fronted by singer and former X Factor contestant Jeff Gutt, released the album Perdida last year and have been a well-oiled tour machine in support. Supporting their Piere’s show will be Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown.
Music Makers for Acres
ACRES Land Trust is a membership-based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting land in northeast Indiana and portions of southern Michigan and northwest Ohio. The organization owns and protects natural and working lands.
On Friday, Sept. 10, from 6:30-9 p.m., ACRES will host a benefit concert at the Tom and Jane Dustin Nature Preserve in Huntertown.
Performing at the event will be northern Indiana multi-instrumentalists Soltre, who perform folk music in the Irish and American traditions.
The event will be the perfect opportunity to preview the improvements being made at their headquarters. Feel free to hike or take a hayride to the new maintenance barn, tour the renovated office, and see plans for the improvements yet to be completed. Bring lawn chairs, blanket, refreshments, and insect repellent.
