Fort Wayne offers a wide variety of weekly jam sessions, trivia nights, and dance lessons. Here’s just one possible schedule: 

Monday: The Club Room at the Clyde hosts weekly Blues Jam Sessions hosted by G-Money with special guests every Monday night from 7-10 p.m. 

Tuesday: Tincture of Trivia hosts team trivia at Ted’s Beerhall (12628 Coldwater Road) every Tuesday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by Michael Moses, first and second prizes are given out at every game. 

Wednesday: The Muse on Main hosts an all-ages weekly open-stage jam sessions every Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Gear is provided, musicians just bring their own instrument or sticks. Play whatever you want with a variety of ever-changing musicians, meet like-minded players, and form unique projects. 

Thursday: Mad Anthony Brewing, 2002 Broadway, hosts weekly open mic nights on Thursdays from 7-10 p.m. with some of Fort Wayne’s best musicians. Mike Conley hosts. 

Friday: The Mambo Room at 2701 W. Jefferson Blvd. is holding free biweekly Latin dance lessons on Friday nights through Feb. 18. Learn salsa and bachata from Robert Green. The evening begins at 8 p.m. with open dance and the lesson begins at 9 p.m. 

American the Beautiful photo exhibit

Clyde Butcher’s America the Beautiful exhibit is now on display at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art through Jan. 30. The collection celebrates the beauty of the American landscape from the Redwood forests of California to the Everglade swamps of Florida, capturing both federal and state government public lands. 

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. 

Learn to throw on the wheel at the Build Guild

The Build Guild will hold a pottery wheel workshop on Thursday, Dec. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at their location on 1025 Goshen Ave. Participants will learn the basics of using the pottery wheel. Pottery made during this workshop will be available for pick up 10 days after workshop date. Pottery left for more than three weeks will be forfeited. 

Tickets are $32 for adults, $16 for students 17 and under, and $15 for spectator-only tickets, with 10 percent discount for groups of 6 or more. Call (260) 209-9150 to register and pre-pay over the phone. 

Noon Year’s Eve at Tweenies Spa

The kids don’t have to be left out of the New Year’s festivities. Tweenies Kids Spa will hold a Noon Year’s Eve party on Friday, Dec. 31, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 6208 Covington Road. 

Tickets are $39.99 and include a special service from Tweenies, party favors, music, dancing, kiddie buffet, and a balloon drop at noon. Then guests can join Anna and Elsa for a meet-n-greet, stories, and pictures. For tickets, go to eventbrite.com and search “Tweenies.” 

Get your bowl on New Year’s Day

MVP Lanes, at 3810 Lake Ave, will hold a New Year’s Day Classic on Saturday, Jan. 1, at 11 a.m. The classic will consist of five games across 10 lanes. 

Entry is $60 and begins at 10 a.m. Total pins determines the winner. 

Kick off the year right with a bike ride

Three Rivers Velo Sport (3RVS), northeast Indiana’s premier cycling club, will host its annual family-friendly Chilly Challenge Bicycle Tour. 

The ride will kick off at 1 p.m. on Jan. 1 at the Shoaff Park River Lodge, located at the back of the park near the ball parks. Arrive early enough to park, unload your bike, and sign a waiver form inside the lodge. 

Riders have the option of a five-mile route or a 20-mile route. The long route will stop at Johnny Appleseed Park to watch the annual “Polar Bear Plunge” and enjoy a quick snack before returning to the lodge. After the ride, 3RVS club members will serve homemade chili. 

This ride is free to the public, thanks to the support of Fort Wayne Parks Department, but 3RVS accepts donations. For more details, go to 3rvs.com and click the “2022 Chilly Challenge” tab. 

EV charging stations coming to downtown

Three electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in downtown Fort Wayne at the 200 block of East Wayne Street, between Clinton and Barr streets. 

The stations are estimated to cost between $2 and $3 per hour. 

A total of 27 EV charging stations are scheduled to be installed throughout Fort Wayne, including at the main branch of the Allen County Public Library, the Skyline Garage, Memorial Coliseum, Jefferson Pointe, Foster Park, and the Clyde Theater.
