An upcoming event designed to raise awareness while having fun is the Erin’s House Pop Up Shop on Tuesday, August 27.
Erin’s House has been serving Fort Wayne for more than 25 years and helps grieving children and their families following the death of a loved one.
The Pop Up Shop will feature over 20 local vendors selling clothing, jewelry, food, home goods, and more while area food trucks, live music, and entertainment are on hand.
There will be free craft activities for the kids at this family-friendly (and pet-friendly) event.
The shopping runs from 4-8 p.m. and takes place at Erin’s House at 5670 YMCA Park Drive West. A portion of the proceeds benefitting Erin’s House. For more information, visit ErinsHouse.org.
Grilling up some Cash for Neighborlink
If the success of the Food Network and Cooking Channel have taught us anything, it’s that there’s a huge appetite for food demonstrations and competitions.
One upcoming event is a particularly inspired way to try to sell people a grill while raising money for a worthy local organization.
At the Sixth Annual 3-Rivers EGGfest on August 17, Connolly’s Do it Best Hardware and Rental hosts a cooking demonstration at its store at 515 E. Dupont Road all in celebration of the Green EGG grill which will be used to cook up some tasty fare.
The grills fire up at 8 a.m. with the EGGfest running from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and both veteran chefs and a couple of spirited amateurs try their hand at grilling, with samples available for spectators.
Tickets to EGGfest are $15 with proceeds benefiting NeighborLink Fort Wayne. Visit connollysdoitbest.com/3-rivers-eggfest for more information.
North Anthony Celebrates
Sunday, Sept. 8, is a busy day for those who want to get out into the community. The North Anthony Corridor hosts its Sixth Annual Block Party from noon-5 p.m.
For those not familiar with the North Anthony Corridor, it encompasses the stretch of road from Crescent Avenue to Coliseum Boulevard, an area filled with a remarkable list of businesses including the Firefly Coffeehouse, the Health Food Shoppe, and Wooden Nickel, among many others.
Food, music, and activities have made the annual gathering a neighborhood must, but everyone is invited.
Be a Tourist Day scheduled
Also on Sunday, Sept. 8, is the 21st annual Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown, an opportunity to visit up to 17 local museums and attractions for free between noon and 5 p.m.
