One of the most popular venues in Fort Wayne has been C2G Music Hall, a stage that has hosted many popular local bands as well as legendary performers like Richie Havens.

In a major shift, the venue has recently been renamed Baker Street Centre. In a press release announcing the change, C2G founder Mark Minnick explained not only the name change but the new approach to how Baker Street Centre will offer even more to the community.

“For the past eighteen years, C2G Music Hall has been a popular venue for concert goers, offering big name bands, as well as local artists,” Minnick said. “Today we are changing our name to Baker Street Centre and making a significant investment in the building design. Our new look and new identity reflect our transformed mission to offer a multi-functional building for all in the heart of our great city. The word ‘Centre’ in our new name distinguishes it as a ‘gathering place.’”

The venue will be available for more than performances and receptions, offering meeting rooms for non-profit and civic groups, teaching space for the arts, and a new lounge.

A treasured part of Fort Wayne, Baker Street Centre will be everything C2G has been and then some, adding to an already remarkable transformation of the downtown landscape in recent years.

Local muralists Selected

More updates on the growing public art investment for Fort Wayne, it was announced that Key Detail and Tobias Studios are two of the muralists that have been selected for Make It Your Own Mural Fest, happening Sept. 8-18 across Northeast Indiana’s 11 counties.

Key Details are a husband and wife team, Andrei Krautsou and Julia Yu-Baba, from New York City.

Many in Fort Wayne are already well familiar with the work of Jerrod and Kara Tobias, whose many local murals include the mural on East Columbia Street near Three Rivers Apartments, the mural on the side of the Brass Rail along Sturgis Street, and the rainbow trout at Hop River Brewing Co.

The final unveiling event for the Make It Your Own Mural Fest will be held in partnership with the Downtown Improvement District and Art This Way Fort Wayne at the Art Crawl event on Friday, Sept. 18, near The Landing and Promenade Park in downtown Fort Wayne.

For those with safety concerns about attending the event, the city will be encouraging social distancing and other COVID-19 safety best practices.
