The hardcore act Nailed Casket have announced they will release a seven-song EP this winter, featuring songs they’ve compiled over the last couple of years.

They have already released one single, “Absolute Primal Hatred,” that you can stream for your listening pleasure.

Nailed Casket began in the winter of 2021 when vocalist Jacob Metel was writing for a future project. There were a few rehearsals during that time, exchanging a variety of members in the band.

Time passed with no shows, but Metel continued writing. That all changed last summer when Nailed Casket made their official debut with guitarist Dylan O’Toole and drummer Christian Doenges, with vocals by Metel.

So far, they have only a couple shows under their belts, but with new music on the horizon, folks can expect to see more of them in 2025.

Browning releasing single

Shawn Browning will release a new single Jan. 31, “Itch.”

Browning tracked this song with producer Michael Walter in August 2023, but finally got around to mixing it with Tim Bushong in November of this year.

“It’s pretty chaotic yet very controlled at the same time,” he said. “Sort of like our world we live in. Maybe it’s just my world.”

As for Browning’s other project, Grave Robber, you can still get your hands on their Christmas albums, Xmas Is the Worst and Scary Christmas to You by hopping online and going to graverobber.bigcartel.com.

Gateway keep their promise

Our friends from Heaven’s Gateway Drugs have released another single, “Baltimore,” on all streaming platforms.

If you recall, the band made a vow to release a new single every month this year — a promise they have kept.

With that being said, be on the lookout for December’s dose as I’m sure it will be a pleaser.

No word if there are any plans to consolidate the 12 tracks into some sort of album, but Whatzup will be the first to let you know if it happens.

As for gigs, nothing is booked, but I’m sure we will see that change come the new year.

Fielder reach their goal

An update on Addison Agen’s new indie-folk project Fielder: She and bandmate Skye Peterson have raised more than $34,000 to make their debut album.

If you recall, Fielder started a Kickstarter campaign a couple of months back to raise funds in hopes that their music sees the light of day. Friends, fans, and strangers stepped up to make sure that happened, donating anywhere from $10 to more than $3,000.

They hope to release the first single in February, followed by a 11-song album in late summer/early fall.

Well done, ladies!
