Summit City Comedy Club ready to open its doors

December 8, 2021
After scrapping the original November opening date, the new Summit City Comedy Club — in the building that formerly housed Snickerz — has announced that it will officially open the weekend of Dec. 30-Jan. 1.
During that time, comedian Steve Rannazzisi (The League, Comedy Central) will be in town to perform five shows. Laughs, drinks, and friends — what a great way to ring in the New Year! Tickets for these shows are on sale now and can be purchased at summitcitycomedy.com.
In addition to opening weekend, the club has put together a stellar list of comedians that will be performing in the coming months. That list includes Jason Mewes (Clerks, Mallrats) on Jan. 13-15, Steve-O on Jan. 17, Jay Mohr (Saturday Night Live, Jerry Maguire) on Jan. 28-29, and Dave Attell (Comedy Central, Netflix) on Feb. 18-20. The complete list of performers can be found on the club’s website.
Additionally, if you haven’t been by Summit City Comedy Club, you will be amazed of what they have done to the facility thus far: everything from painting the exterior white and black and hanging huge portraits along the façade of some of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time including Richard Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield, Norm Macdonald, and Robin Williams.
Christmas Vacation trivia night
The Kekionga Craft Company is showing its Christmas spirit with a couple holiday events this month. First up, on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m., the hard cider tasting room will host a trivia night focused on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
What type of animal is in the Christmas tree? What are the first names of the Griswold’s neighbors? If you know the answers to these questions, then gather up you friends and see how much you know about one of the best Christmas movies of all time. The trivia is free to play and there will be gift cards given to the winner. Like many of these themed trivia nights, costumes are encouraged.
Then, the following night, Dec. 11, it’s the annual Ugly Sweater Party. Come sip some of their tasty cider, sport your ugly sweater, and spread the holiday cheer. A trophy and gift card will be given to the ugliest sweater that evening.
Christmas party at Auburn Brewing
You might as well keep that ugly sweater handy since the Auburn Brewing Company will have a party of their own on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 7-10 p.m.
An ugly sweater contest, tasty craft beer, games, prizes, and live music by Josh Ayers will ensue that evening. There will be no cover charge to attend, but you must be over 21 to enter.
REO updates COVID protocols for shows
If you had plans to attend the REO Speedwagon show on Monday, Dec. 13, at The Lerner Theatre, there has been an update regarding the COVID-19 protocols.
The band has changed their policy and will no longer require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend this show.
However, The Lerner Theatre’s mask policy will still be in effect. At this time, only the unvaccinated will need to be masked for all events at the theatre.
Great seats for REO Speedwagon are still available at thelerner.com.
