The latest exhibit to open at Fort Wayne Museum of Art pays tribute to Hoosier artists as well as an organization that has helped shine on a light on them the past century.

From Their Indiana Home: Artists of the Hoosier Salon from the Permanent Collection is an exhibition of Hoosier Salon artists which runs through Oct. 6 in honor of the Salon’s centennial.

For the landmark 100th anniversary, Fort Wayne Museum of Art will spotlight Hoosier Salon artists. Among them are early Fort Wayne art school instructors John Ottis Adams and William Forsyth; second generation Hoosier Group artists Dorothy Morlan and Robert Hardrick; and noted Fort Wayne area artists Jody Hemphill-Smith, Peggy Brown, Jim McBride, John Hrehov, Joel Fremion, and John Kelty. 

Their works are among the dozens by Hoosier Salon artists Fort Wayne Museum of Art has collected in its equally long history.

­General admission is free for members, $10 adults, $8 students and seniors 65+, and $25 for families. General admission is free for everyone on Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. Veterans, active military personnel, and their families receive free general admission.

Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursdays 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays noon-5 p.m.

Embassy’s Summer Nights continue

Local music continues to be featured at Summer Nights at The  Embassy.

Each Wednesday from 5:30-9 p.m. through Aug. 28, you can listen local musicians in the multi-tier ballroom. Guests can enjoy the rooftop patio which offers a breathtaking view of the city skyline. Here, you can mingle with friends, enjoy drinks, and indulge in food. 

Each evening will have a featured music artist with food offerings from a different local restaurant and frozen cocktail available for purchase. 

The remaining schedule includes Chris Worth on July 24, Island Vibe on July 31, The Be Colony on Aug. 7, Ty Causey on Aug. 14, The Hubie Ashcraft Trio on Aug. 21, and Melisa’s Latin Beat on Aug. 28. 

Tickets are $5.

Live theater in northeast Indiana

Fort Wayne’s summer theater season is in full bloom this week with lots of live performances to attend.

  • Pirates of Penzance at Pulse Opera House in Warren from July 19-Aug. 4.
  • Six: Teen Edition at Three Rivers Music Theatre from July 19-Aug. 3.
  • Guys and Dolls in Concert from Summit City Music Theatre Purdue University Fort Wayne’s Auer Performance Hall from July 20-28.
