Simpson supports album

Country singer Sturgill Simpson is hitting the road for the first time since 2020 with a 28-date headline run.

The Navy veteran’s Why Not? Tour supports Simpson’s forthcoming album, Passage Du Desir. He recorded the album under his new moniker Johnny Blue Skies after promising fans that he would only record five albums under his own name.

The tour also commemorates the 10th anniversary of the release of his ground-breaking Metamodern Sounds in Country Music

The tour is mostly hitting theaters and amphitheaters, including Fox Theatre in Detroit on Sept. 28 and Chicago’s Salt Shed from Oct. 1-2.

These shows will be “An Evening With…,” so there will be no opening act.

KMFDM mark 40 years

KMFDM have announced a fall tour in celebration of their 40th anniversary.

The industrial veterans stand as one of the most prolific acts of the genre to emerge in the 1980s. They are still making great music, releasing Let Go in February.

As good as their studio albums are, anyone who has seen them can tell you that the live arena is where they really shine.

There will be plenty of opportunities in the area to see for yourself when the band visits Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit on Oct. 17, Hi-Fi in Indianapolis on Oct. 18, Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 19, Agora Theatre in Cleveland on Oct. 29, and Metro in Chicago on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The Morlocks will open the shows.

Labyrinth goes on tour

On the heels of the release of a Jim Henson documentary on Disney+, his cult classic Labyrinth, which stars David Bowie, is going on tour with a live band, bringing the movie to theaters across North America this fall.

The tour will bring the music of Bowie and composer Trevor Jones to life, leaving Bowie’s vocals intact as the movie plays on screen during the performance.

“On stage we have a large HD screen and a seven-piece synth and rock band doing all of Trevor Jones’ synth score and all of David’s musical parts live,” Black Ink Presents CEO John Kinser said. “It’s like an ’80s rock band, which is really awesome.

“We had the idea that people would really enjoy seeing this movie in almost a Rocky Horror kind of way, with a live band and showing up in costume. And getting the opportunity to enjoy David’s vocals with a live band, we thought fans would really jump at the opportunity to experience that.”

Take the chance to see and hear this unique production when it comes to Agora Theatre in Cleveland on Oct. 7, Kemba Live! in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 9, Murat Theatre at Old National Center in Indianapolis on Oct. 11, Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit on Oct. 12, and Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on Oct. 14.
