Local band Los Galaxy were the winners of Thursday’s night inaugural Center Stage talent show at The Clyde Theatre, taking home the $1,000 prize.
“We’re feeling really good,” the band said in a press release from Center Stage organizer Turnstone.
Comprised of Takoda Collins, Ashton Morris, Daniel Vaides, David Vadies, Jonathan Jehle, and Zane Stackhouse, funk-fusion band beat out 11 other finalists.
Collins and Morris are both recipients of the Whatzup 20 Under 20 honors.
“Every single one of the talent acts was phenomenal,” said Rena Shown, Turnstone’s chief of development and strategic partnerships. “The judges offered some really great words of encouragement, the emcees did a great job running the show, the Clyde Theatre was super helpful to us the entire way, and the audience made it such a fun night. We appreciate all those who attended, donated, sponsored, and supported this show.”
Presented by Sweetwater, the talent show was open to those of all abilities as a way to “experience someone else’s thoughts, feelings, and points of view, and challenge us to respect diversity in life for the beauty that it creates.”
Turnstone says work is already under way for next year’s competition, with information being made available at Turnstone.org/CenterStage.
