OnMay 18, 2007 a city-wide multi-media Christian worship service was held at the Foellinger Ampitheater. The event was arranged and performed by a group appropriately named Citywide Worship. During the evening the worship band performed for nearly 80 flawless minutes, leading the impromptu congregation through 12current praise and worship songs. With nine of the 12 songs coming from the Hillsong catalog, attendees were assured of a consistent evening of modern praise worship. The selections segue nicely from one to the other with enough variety in tempo and sound to keep one’s interest for the duration, removing and jarring distractions from the focus of the event. The players that evening included drummer Collin Miller, bassist Justin Sommer, Mark Best on piano and keyboards and Rory Siren and Tyler Nickols on guitar duties. In addition to a choir, vocalists Tyler Nickols, B.J. Carpenter and Cassie Paino took turns passionately leading the crowd through each song,clearly enunciating each verse and chorus. The band plays well together with the drums and bass locking into a firm groove with guitars and keys forming melodious rhythms, moving effortlessly from rock ballads to slow rock.

Fortunately,this is not a concert review, as Monastic Chambers was on hand to capture thee vent. A true testament to Brother Jon, the typical wild beast of a live showa lmost sounds like a studio recording, complete with no feedback, minimal distortion,excellent performances and a perfect mix of instruments, vocals and choir. What certainly must have been a massive undertaking – both in preparation and post-production has paid off in spades, resulting in The Worship That Changed ACity, over an hour of inspiring worship music.
