The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department are continuing to fill out their Foellinger Theatre concert slate. Their latest announcement is acclaimed multi-genre artist Gladys Knight will be at the venue on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Starting out with Gladys Knight & The Pips, the seven-time Grammy winner has enjoyed No. 1 hits in pop, gospel, R&B, and adult contemporary.

She has triumphed in film and television. She has also been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There’s no doubt that very few singers over the past 60 years have matched her unassailable artistry. This year, she will be honored as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree.

Tickets for Knight are on sale via ticketmaster.com and in person at the parks and recreation department, 705 E. State Blvd.

Spend Summer Nights at the Embassy

Embassy Theatre are pleased to announce their ninth season of Summer Nights at the Embassy.

The weekly concert series returns Wednesday, July 10, running eight weeks through Aug. 28, from 6-9 p.m. each night.

What’s cool is you don’t have to rush home after work to get a bite to eat since there’s always killer food and cold drinks ready for you each and every week. Once again, they have partnered with several local restaurants that will provide food for purchase.

It all takes place in the multi-tier Yergens Rogers Foundation Ballroom at the Embassy. Plus, you have access to the Parkview Health Rooftop Patio which I feel is one of the coolest things about the event. Where else can you enjoy a beverage, mingle with friends, and take in the city’s stunning skyline?

This year’s schedule includes Sunny Taylor and Paul Kobylensky on July 10, Todd Harrold Band on July 17, Chris Worth on July 24, Island Vibe on July 31, The Be Colony on Aug. 7, Ty Causey on Aug. 14, Hubie Ashcraft on Aug. 21, and Sunset Musica on Aug. 28.

Tickets will be available at the box office at the Embassy or online through ticketmaster.com and fwembassytheatre.org beginning Friday, May 31.
