Time is running out to purchase tickets for this year’s Fort Wayne Sister Cities Gala fundraiser Saturday, April 23.Culture and food from sister cities Takaoka, Japan; Plock, Poland; Gera, Germany; and Taizhou, China; will be enjoyed, as well as Fort Wayne’s friendship city Mawlamyine, Mayanmar. Deadline to purchase $100 tickets is Wednesday, April 13. Tickets can be purchased at fortwaynesistercities.netHosted at Ceruti’s Summit Park Diamond Room from 5:30-9:30 p.m., the event is designed to raise money for Fort Wayne Sister Cities International mission of “advancing friendship and peace through educational, cultural, and economic exchanges.”Prepared by Ceruti’s chefs, dishes at the event will be hors d’oevures of Japan, including sushi, edamame, and gyoza (pan-fried pot stickers). Main courses include kyaatsarrhain (chicken curry), tarrmyit saan (forbidden rice), and ngar brett par (naan bread) of Myanmar; schnitzel (breaded pork cutlet), spaetzle (dumpling noodles), and gurkensalat (cucumber dill salad) of Germany; and lo mein (noodles), char siu (shredded pork), huoshao ya (flambe duck), and shucai (Chinese vegetables) of China. Dessert off the Polish menu includes chrusciki (fried dough), kotaczki (cream cheese cookie with fruit), and paczki (jelly-filled doughnut).
