After the pandemic put performances on hold for a year, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will welcome the community again with several concert celebrations that encompass what it means to live in this great country.
The concerts will take place in several venues over a nearly two-week period starting June 25 at the DeKalb Outdoor Theater in Auburn.
Other scheduled performances take place June 26 at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, June 30 at Ouabache State Park in Bluffton, July 1 at Pokagon State Park in Angola, and July 4 at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville.
The concerts, performed without intermission, will feature a carefully chosen program conducted by Fort Wayne Philharmonic music director Andrew Constantine at the Parkview Field and DeKalb Outdoor Theater shows. Youth Orchestras program director Troy Webdell will conduct all other performances.
The show will feature many classic patriotic songs including “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Liberty Fanfare,” “American Salute,” “1812 Overture,” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
While plans are still fluid for some of the events, the Parkview Field performance will be hosted by longtime Fort Wayne media personality Melissa Long and will have fireworks accompanying the finale. Free reserved tickets are required.
