When he moved to Austin last October, Taylor Fredricks had already wrapped up filming And in a Moment, a film completely shot in Fort Wayne. Now settled into his new life in Texas, Fredricks is coming home to debut his film at Cinema Center, providing him with a reunion of cast and crew that spent almost six months putting his script to screen.

“When I was writing the script I was going through a relationship that was struggling,” says Fredricks. “It was something I could vent with. Most of the things I do help me to vent or cope with a situation.”

After the script was finished, he knew he needed to further explore the character by acting in the film and using it as a tool to better understand what was happening in his own life. Some of the struggles during that time (filming ran from November 2016 until April 2017) helped him decide it was time to change his surroundings.

“The film was in post-production – I was just finishing it up – and was ready for a change. I just knew I needed something different and had kind of hit the ceiling in Indiana. I really liked the vibe down here in Austin. But I knew that when I wanted to premiere the film, I wanted to do it where all of my film family, all the people who had worked on it with me, could be there. I’ve premiered a couple of other films at Cinema Center so I knew I wanted to do it there.”

The screening of And in a Moment will run on June 23 at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a Q&A in the Spectator Lounge afterward. There will also be posters and items connected to the film available, and Fredricks is looking forward to a trip home and a reunion with family and friends who worked on it with him. He says he’s proud of the results and is happy he’s spent so much time on it in post-production.

“It was a lot of time since we wrapped up filming over a year ago, but I think it was a smart thing for me to take my time and figure out what I wanted the film to be and how I wanted to approach it. When I wrote and filmed it, I was going through a lot of personal stuff and was really miserable. I had my hand in every aspect of the film, and it helped me to see that I was no longer the person I used to be.
