Embassy Theatre is teaming up with local restaurants to give showgoers a discount on their meals that day. More than 20 central city restaurants are participating in the campaign, aptly called Dinner & A Show

“Supporting local restaurants helps everyone meet challenging revenue goals while offering patrons a much appreciated deal on their dining or drinking experience,” said a press release from The Embassy.

Just show your event ticket, before or after the show, to receive special pricing on discounts that show day. 

Participating restaurants include Burger Bar on Jefferson, Charlie’s Place, Conner’s Rooftop, Copper Spoon, Davey’s Delicious Bagels & Coffee, el Azteca, GK Cafe and Provisions, The Green Frog, Kanela, Kilwins, Mercado, Nawa, Nori, Proof, Saisaki, Sweets on Main, and various eateries at Union Street Market.

Dash-In brings back dinner for a night

It’s been a little while since Dash-In has been open for dinner, so when they are, it’s news.

On Wednesday, March 13, the shop at 814 S. Calhoun St. will host Dinner at Dash-In with a specially curated four-course menu. 

The menu has not been finalized, but a Facebook post says: “The best of our best have come up with an amazing menu for you to choose from meat, fish, vegan, or gluten-free options.”

This is reservation only, and you may choose the 5-7 p.m. time slot or 7-9 p.m. There will be bar seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laly’s Pizza opens in Huntington

Huntington has a new pizzeria with Laly’s Pizza and Cocktails, 32 Washington St., opening a few weeks ago. 

Owners Brayden and Jonairys Bradley have remodeled what was once the Uptown Tavern. It’s open daily from noon-10 p.m. and Sundays from 1-9 p.m. 

The Bradleys also operate Gabriella’s Old Time Pizza in Gas City. They specialize in pizzas, sandwiches, and wings. The owners boast interiors designed to make you want to snap photos.

Pizza King opens 6th location in Allen County

Pizza King is now open in Huntertown at 11934 Lima Crossing, bringing the number of locations in Allen County to six. 

Talking about Pizza King, the man who started that pizza tradition in Indiana passed away in late January. Wendell Swartz was 99. Before baking Indiana’s beloved pizza, he was a tail gunner on a B-24 bomber in World War II, flying dozens of missions and receiving four bronze stars. 

He opened his first store in 1956 in Lafayette. There are more than 80 stores with the Pizza King name in Indiana.

Son takes over Italian Grille in Auburn

The Italian Grille, 227 N. Duesenberg Drive, Auburn, has a new owner. 

In January, Ben Armstrong purchased the eatery from his parents, George and Nan. The elder Armstrongs operated the joint about 16 years. They’ll still be involved, but they wanted to take a step back. 

Blaze Pizza introduces meatballs to menu

Blaze Pizza has introduced its new Fast Fire’d Meatballs — three meatballs in their house-made red sauce, ricotta cheese, and banana peppers.

Lunch buffet returns to Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut will resume their lunch buffet from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at their Fort Wayne locations at Northwood, Pine Valley, and Coventry shopping plazas beginning Friday, Feb. 16.

Mexican restaurant opens on Fairfield

Cozumel Restaurante Mexicano has opened up at 2202 Fairfield Ave., the former home of Las Lomas. 

In addition to the new name, there’s a new look and a brand-new menu. It bills itself as “Fort Wayne’s new favorite Mexican restaurant” and uses the tagline “tacos, tequila, and terrific times.” 

It’s open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Sunday. Cozumel will host a grand opening March 1.
