Tom Didier and I have known each other for 37-plus years. We did Of Mice and Men together back in 1981, and ever since I’ve been back to run FPT, I’ve been trying to find a chance for us to get back together on stage.

Finally, this Christmas, I’ve succeeded. We are banding together to sing songs and tell stories in a new musical review that we’ve put together for Fort Wayne audiences.

Act One is all secular, “God Blessing Us Everyone,” with reindeer and snowmen and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

Act Two moves to the real reason we have a holiday this time of the year, the birth of Christ. The secular gives way to the spiritual as we sing the songs and tell the stories that are the bedrock of a Christians faith.

I could not have asked for better material, or a better partner, to share this Christmas celebration with.

And if you are worried the only two Thomases aren’t enough, we have provided you with a third: Tommy Saul is a young man who is one of Fort Wayne’s most impressive up-and-coming musicians. You don’t won’t to miss this wonderful musical revue program at FPT.

Tom and Thom’s Christmas Songs and Stories with Tommy Saul previews Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. (all seats $12 available at the door) and the rest of that weekend runs Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m.; then again Sunday at 2 p.m. on Dec. 2.

Due to First Presbyterian Theater sharing our space with Fort Wayne Youtheatre, our second two weekends have performance times that are unique for us, Saturdays, Dec. 8 and 15, at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays, Dec. 9 and 16, at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 general admission, $18 for patrons age 65+, and free for the first 30 full-time students per performance who make reservations. All seating is festival seating (first come, first served) and doors will open 30 minutes prior to curtain.

To reserve a spot in the auditorium call the Box Office at 260-426-7421 ext. 121; the hours are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and one hour prior to every performance. Or call another time and leave a message and we will call you back.

At FPT, if you are deciding last minute, call the box office to check availability. Most nights you can walk up and get a ticket the night of the show.
