Dark Star Orchestra have finalized the lineup for the their annual Dark Star Jubilee festival at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio.
Taking place May 26–28, the festival features Dark Star Orchestra headlining all three nights with Greensky Bluegrass, Melvin Seals & JGB, Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel featuring John Kadlecik, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and several others.
Along with the lineup announcement, Dark Star Jubilee revealed the Grateful Guitars Foundation will bring four historical guitars played by the Grateful Dead to the festival, and they will be available for artists to use. Instruments include Jerry Garcia‘s “Alligator” Fender Stratocaster and the Martin D-28 acoustic he used when recording the band’s fifth studio album, American Beauty.
Rise Up mixes rock, country
The Rise Up Music Festival takes place in McHenry, Illinois, just north of Chicago from September 12-14.
Sublime with Rome and Everclear will serve as headliners of “Rock the Lake,” the rocking first part of the festival. Country takes over for the following two nights with Old Dominion, Laura Alaina, and Tayler Holder headlining the first night of “Splash Into Country,” while Chris Young, Chris Janson, Justin Moore, and Greylan James finishing things up the following night.
3 Floyds toasts beer, music
High on Fire will headline 3 Floyds Brewing’s Dark Lord Day on May 18 in Munster.
The annual extreme music/craft beer festival will also host Abbath, 1349, Fugitive, and Spirit World to their stage.
Along with the music, the day serves as 3Floyds’ annual release of their Dark Lord stout, and there will be six special variants available. If you get your fill of those, you can try any of the offerings from the 50 or so guest breweries on hand.
Metalfest returns Aug. 24
Mushroomhead will headline this year’s Michigan Metalfest at the Leila Arboretum in Battle Creek on Aug. 24.
The masked touring warriors will top off a night that features 20 bands on two stages, including Hed (PE), Gideon, Cultus Black, Casket Robbery, and Blue Felix, making this a perfect opportunity to celebrate the edgier side of hard rock.
Dreamfest has it all
Ohio Dreamfest Arts & Music Festival will be June 20-23 in Ansonia, about an hour and a half from Fort Wayne.
The event features three days and three nights of music along with a wide variety of workshops, more than 30 food vendors, fire and flow performers, and kids’ activities that include bounce houses, face painting, and a 10,000-water balloon fight.
Music entertainment will be headlined by two nights of Dustin Smith & The Daydreamers along with Stop Light Observations, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, Ekoostik Hookah, Kendall Street Company, Dizgo, and Glostik.
Jelly Roll leads into NFL draft
Jelly Roll will perform at The Fillmore in Detroit on April 24, a day before the NFL draft comes to town.
Billed “The Night Before with Jelly Roll,” the show will feature the country/rock/hip-hop star performing his hits to help people get warmed up for the three-day draft.
The show isn’t officially linked to the NFL, but it’s sure to be a huge, in demand precursor to the three-day draft that will see over 300,000 fans swarming to the Motor City.
