Piere’s has tribute bands covered
Speaking of tributes, their popularity is undeniable. Lately, it seems like every major rock, glam rock, or grunge act has a tribute, and their tickets sell like crazy.
Piere’s just announced a handful of tributes that we don’t normally see including The Infinite Sadness: Chicago’s Smashing Pumpkins Tribute Band on Jan. 13, Hellbilly Deluxe: A Rob Zombie Tribute on Jan. 20, Freak Like Me: The Halestorm Tribute on March 30, Concentric: A Perfect Circle Tribute on May 4, Now I’m Nothing: Chicago’s Nine Inch Nails Tribute on June 15, and Land of Linkin: Tribute to Linkin Park on June 22.
Who knew there were that many out there?
Tickets for these shows are available via etix.com and all Wooden Nickel locations.
Free show will be used for music video
Another tribute band to add to the mix is local act Mick Bowie and The Rolling Spiders, who have a special evening lined up at Piere’s on Sunday, Dec. 10.
The foursome, whose main focus is playing The Rolling Stones and David Bowie numbers, will be recording a video that night, and the band would like nothing more than for you to show up, and maybe even appear in the video shot by
“As a new band we thought it would be a good idea to shoot a new, live video,” guitarist Joey O said. “It will be great to play a show at Piere’s where all our friends can actually come to see us while we play 90 minutes of Stones and Bowie with our full-stage production, for the first time anywhere.”
This is an all-ages show with doors at 7 p.m. and showtime scheduled for 8 p.m. Oh yeah, it’s free to get in, so no excuses.
Also, from what I’ve been told, there will be no opening act, so plan on arriving on time.
New League Record schedule first show
In a bit of original music news, New League Record will make their debut on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Keep Time Barbershop with Split Parasite.
Following A Special Evening with Keep Time Barbershop from 4-7 p.m., with Papi’s Pizza, drinks, and music, to help raise the money to purchase the building, the party moves to the basement where the two bands will perform a $5 show.
New League Record is a four-piece melodic punk band consisting of Andy Plank, Paul Williams, Sam Baker, and Mat Smith. You can find their single, “Footsteps,” on YouTube and streaming services.
Out and About covers Northeast Indiana’s most interesting music and arts events. Send your announcements to info@whatzup.com.
