The Clyde Theatre has once again snagged a couple of shows that are worthy of that hard-earned money of yours. The musical acts are also a couple of first-timers to The Fort, which is an even better reason to check them out.

First up, on Thursday, Feb. 23, The Clyde will welcome multi-Grammy-nominated band Highly Suspect out of Massachusetts, who will be on the road aboard their Ice Cold Winter Tour.

The band’s chemically imbalanced mix of gritty guitars, haunting piano, off-kilter synths, hip-hop production, cinematic vision, and beautifully possessed vocals will make for a night of high-energy rock that will have the venue shakin’.

Highly Suspect released their fourth studio album, The Midnight Demon Club, in September, so fans can expect to be treated to the new material. This general admission show will feature special guest Dead Poet Society

The other booking is for the Celtic punk band Flogging Molly, who will stroll through town Sunday, March 5.

Wow, I never thought I’d see the day. This is a band that I have personally traveled hours to see on a couple occasions since Fort Wayne was never a tour stop. Now, they will be in my backyard.

Over the past 20-plus years, Flogging Molly have become a staple in the punk scene and built a loyal following through endless touring. They released their seventh album in September, Anthem. Supporting their Clyde performance will be Anti-Flag and Skinny Lister.

Tickets for both shows are on sale at clydetheatre.com, by calling (800) 514-3849, or visiting at The Clyde box office or Sweetwater Sound.

Country star Chesney coming to Coliseum

Country music star Kenny Chesney is making his way to Memorial Coliseum on Thursday, May 18, for his I Go Back 2023 tour.

Having played to more than 1.3 million fans on his Here and Now 2022 tour, including a number of NFL stadiums, Chesney wanted to make this tour special and return to some of the cities he played on his way up, hence the I Go Back title.

The 21-date tour will have him criss-crossing the country, making stops in some of the cities where his career first caught fire. He will be joined by three-time Grammy nominee Kelsea Ballerini

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. by going to ticketmaster.com or visiting the Coliseum box office.

Auburn bar goes by new name

Those of you who frequent Meteor Bar & Grill in Auburn for live music have probably noticed a recent change.

With new ownership, the bar has been rebranded as Hangar 9 Bar & Grill.

A little more than 3 miles down the road is Runway 9 at DeKalb County Airport, which was built in 1964 and has grown and changed with Auburn, just like the Meteor. With that, Hangar 9 is a perfect name for the aviation community of Auburn.

You can catch the party band Decade Divide there on Saturday, Nov. 26, and Hubie Ashcraft Band on Saturday, Dec. 17.
