As if it’s not already popular enough, The Landing is looking to be your favorite landing spot at the start of each month.

Beginning on May 6, First Fridays kicks off from 5-9 p.m. with Prentis Moore & The OG Band entertaining attendees with R&B and funk music from 6-8 p.m. 

A Landing Beer Company beer tent will also be on hand.

Additional events will take place the first Friday of every month through October to celebrate businesses and culture on The Landing.

Butterflies return to Conservatory

Live butterflies have returned to Foellinger-
Freimann Botanical Conservatory and will stick around through June 26. 

A VIP experience is available, including a personalized visit with exotic butterflies, a craft, and breakfast. VIP guests also receive a souvenir and a painted lady butterfly kit.

If you’d like to lend a hand, butterfly attendants are being recruited to interact with visitors, prevent escapes, and cover routine shifts in the display tent. Training is provided. To volunteer, call (260) 427-6445 or email Missy.AHearn@cityoffortwayne.org. 

Learn the Korean alphabet

The Fort Wayne Hana Klub will host a Korean Alphabet 101 course Friday, May 6, at 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Participants will learn the history of the Korean alphabet, the basics of reading and writing, and do some fun alphabet activities together. Korean snacks will also be provided.

Star Wars trivia at Trubble Brewing

Trubble Brewing, 2725 Broadway, will host a Star Wars trivia night Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m. 

Tickets are $5 per player at the door with a maximum team size of six. A cash prize will be awarded to the top two teams with an additional prize awarded to the best-costumed team. 

Fleet Feet hosts Cinco de Mayo 5K

Fleet Feet Fort Wayne, 5661 Coventry Lane, will host their annual free Cinco de Mayo 5K Run on Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. Afterward, runners will be treated to free tacos, beverages, and games, as well as a prize raffle benefiting Girls on the Run.

Theater offerings this weekend

A Midsummer Night’s Dream (60-minute adaptation by Fort Wayne Youtheatre): Friday-Sunday, May 6-8.

You Can’t Take It With You (Arena Dinner Theatre): Fridays, Saturdays through May 14 with a Sunday matinee ON May 8.
