Cebolla’s Mexican Grill is closing their Fernhill Avenue restaurant at the end of this month after 25 years at the location south Glenbrook Square. 

The restaurant group made the announcement last week on Facebook. Their note included a thank you to their customers for letting them share many life moments and celebrations. 

The last day of operations is Saturday, Sept. 28. 

From their beginnings at the Fernhill location, Cebolla’s Mexican Grill has grown to four Fort Wayne locations, including 602 E. Dupont Road, 2787 Maplecrest Road, and 5930 W. Jefferson Blvd. 

There are also Cebolla’s-branded stores in Auburn and Angola, plus Don Chava’s at 1234 N. Wells St.

The Landing celebrates Restaurant Week

Here’s your chance to check out what’s cooking on The Landing. 

Restaurant Week begins Monday, Sept. 22, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 28. It’s a showcase with special prices on full meals and cocktails from businesses that include Bistro Nota, Marquee, Dana’s, Tolon, Kanela, Papi’s Pizza, Arbor, Nawa, Utopian, and the brand-new Bru Burger. 

Included are Mexican, Asian, French, and classic American coffee shops and pizza.

Confluence Kitchen goes Latin

Riverfront Fort Wayne presents Confluence Kitchen: Latin America from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at Promenade Park. 

Confluence Kitchen includes Latin American cuisine, culture, crafts, and other activities. They’ll have food from local vendors such as Lu Garden’s sugar cane beverages, Abreus Venezuelan, Carmelitas’ ice cream, La Pupupseria’s Salvadoran pupusas, and Columbian Delights’ tastes from their namesake countries, all with live music. 

Walk-ins are welcome if space is available, but you guarantee your spot if you register at fortwayneparks.org with a $5 fee.

Pumpkins aplenty at Kurtz Produce

Kurtz Produce Stand, 14212 State Road 37 in New Haven, is open for the Halloween season. 

Their home-grown pumpkins have been a local tradition for decades in northeast Allen County and beyond. 

It’s just minutes east of Interstate 469. Trust me, you can’t miss it. Look for the fields of pumpkins, and you’ll know you are in the right place. But it’s not just pumpkins; they also have squash, gourds, corn, mums, and straw bales. 

They added a U-pick pumpkin patch and a corn maze a few years ago. 

The patch and maze are open 4-7 p.m. Friday and 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 27. 

The market is open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon- 6 p.m. Sunday.

Kuehnert fires up Fall Festival

Another fall tradition for many is the Kuehnert Fall Festival at Kuehnert Dairy Farm, 6532 Cook Road. 

The family-friendly event runs is open 6-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday through Oct. 27. 

Along with a corn maze, corn pit, obstacle courses, hay rides, and pumpkins decorating, there are grilled cheese sandwiches — it is a dairy farm, you know — plus hot dogs and other food items. 

Admission is $15 with children 2 and younger free.

Night Train gets into Halloween spirits

Night Train, 135 W. Columbia St. on The Landing, is getting into the Halloween spirit with the Black Lagoon pop-up bar, Oct. 7-31. 

The menu will include Lot 40 Rye, Mezcal Union, Mr. Black Cold Brew, Bitter Queens Bitter, Fords Gin, Giffard Liquers, and The House of Lustau. 

Lend a hand to Harvest Food Bank

September is Hunger Action Month at Community Harvest Food Bank, and they are asking for donations to fill their shelves with food. 

They expect the winter to bring even more challenges. Heating costs jump and holiday spending stretches already strained household budgets. 

They ask for donations to be made at 999 E. Tillman Road or 1010 N. Coliseum Blvd.
