Recently starring in Haunted Mansion, Easter Sunday, and his own comedy special on Netflix, Jo Koy is taking his comedy on a world tour.

Going all over the United States, as well as to across the world to places such as Ireland and Belgium, Fort Wayne gets their very own stop on this five-month run.

Koy will be performing at the historic Embassy Theatre on Feb. 4.

With a nearly sold-out show, anticipation is high to see this comedian that came from humble beginnings.

Going all the way back to 1994, Koy began his journey into comedy by performing small stand-up shows at a coffee shop in Las Vegas. From there, he began performing at a comedy club.

These performances led to him becoming a regular at open mic night at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino’s Catch a Rising Star

After gaining some fan traction and more confidence, Koy took the chance on renting out The Huntridge Theater in Las Vegas where he proceeded to sell his own tickets like a Boy Scout would by going through neighborhoods and knocking on tons of doors.

During this adventure, a talent agent swooped up Koy and landed him an appearance on the BET stand-up comedy show ComicView

Familiar Face

His career really took off from there. Throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, Koy appeared on every late-night show in the book. He started attending festivals and popping up on Chelsea Handler’s Chelsea Lately as a regular guest.

Koy has since released six of his own comedy specials with his most recent being Live from the LA Forum in 2022.

On top of comedy specials, Koy has appeared in a handful of TV shows and movies.

Easter Sunday was definitely his most anticipated movie, with Koy as the lead. He will also play a character an animated movie, The Tiger’s Apprentice, alongside such actors as Michelle Yeoh, Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh, and Bowen Yang. The movie is slated to begin streaming on Paramount+ on Feb. 2, just ahead of his appearance at The Embassy.

Making headlines

Koy recently made a splash when hosting the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards.

Reportedly getting the gig only 10 days before the event, his stand-up routine did create headlines. Although he shied away from pretty much all risqué jokes, he did make a comment about Taylor Swift, and I think we all know you do not want to draw a side-eye from the Queen of the Swifties.

Regardless, Koy has proved himself time and time again that he earned a place in the ever-changing comedian world.

Although there are only a few tickets left, you can head on over to the Embassy website for show information and tickets. Make sure to follow Koy on all forms of social media to keep up to date on any upcoming shows or specials.
