Sweetwater Sound will host a guitar masterclass on Friday, Aug. 9, from 7-9 p.m. featuring Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X. The masterclass will cover road-tested skills and career-building recommendations drawn from his experience on the big stages with the likes of Bon Jovi and Triumph.

The Greek-Canadian musician and songwriter has played with Bon Jovi since 2013, replacing founding member Richie Sambora. He also provided lead guitar on the band’s 13th studio album, 2018’s This House Is Not for Sale

In any event, this is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry.

Even more exciting, the following day, Aug. 10, GuitarFest will ensue on the Sweetwater campus from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The one-day festival is for guitar players and music-lovers of all ages, levels, interests, and tastes.

Come out and explore hundreds of new, used, and demo guitars, basses, effects, amps, and more at one-day-only, grab-’em-before-they’re-gone prices. There will also be special guests on hand and thousands of dollars in giveaways.

If you attended their DrumFest in May, you know how darn cool this is going to be.

Mexico City skate rockers visiting Rail

The Mexico City skate rock/fuzz punk duo Cardiel will perform at The Brass Rail on Monday, Aug. 12.

Formed in 2010, Samantha Ambrosia (drums/vocals) and Miguel Fraino (guitar/vocals) wanted to make music for skateboarding videos. They even named themselves after the influential skateboarder John Cardiel. The next thing you know, they’re playing events for Vans and Thrasher, and SXSW in Austin, Texas.

They’ve toured with Pennywise, Radio Moscow, Teenage Bottlerocket, and Green Jelly. Their exploits have taken them across the Americas and Europe.

This will be a real banger for the Rail and will include support by our own Squirrel Cage

All this action for only an $8 cover at the door.
