The band that put “Overdrive” into rock is being resurrected for a short tour this year and more dates in 2024.

Randy Bachman announced his iconic ’70s rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive will be hitting the road and visiting Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois, just north of Chicago, on Oct. 20.

Joining Bachman, who just turned 80, will be his son Tal (best known for his 1999 solo hit “She’s So High”), along with several touring musicians.

Randy Bachman’s brothers, Robbie and Tim, both founding members of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, both died this year.

Bachman also announced he and Tal are writing and recording songs with founding member Fred Turner and that a BTO concert movie, filmed in 1976, is slated for 2024 release, as is a double live album recorded that year at Tokyo’s famed Budokan.

Strait, Stapleton add dates

George Strait and Chris Stapleton plan to keep the country music flowing as they extend their highly successful stadium tour into 2024. They have announced nine new dates with Little Big Town in support.

The hits will be flowing from all three artists when this newest leg kicks off at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on May 4.

If you can’t make that show or if you just want to get a dose or two more, the tour is also slated to stop at Ford Field in Detroit on July 13 and Soldier Field in Chicago on July 20.

Rod Wave rises to occasion

Rod Wave, who blends hip-hop and rhythm and blues, will present a little nostalgia this fall with a 35-date cross-country tour.

Wave’s fourth studio album, Nostalgia, dropped Sept. 15, and he will bring some of those songs to the stage at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Oct. 24, followed by Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Oct. 27, Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 30, and United Center in Chicago on Nov. 22.

Emo favorites unite for tour

Emo never gets old, and Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World are out to prove that to be a factual statement.

The bands have announced a 2024 tour that will take them to Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on March 26 and Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on March 29. They will be joined by Hot Mulligan and Games We Play in Grand Rapids and Hot Mulligan and CARR in Columbus.

Fall Out Boy released their latest album, So Much (for) Stardust, and made an appearance on Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), while Jimmy Eat World’s latest album, Surviving, was released in 2019.
