Summit City Music Theatre will team up with Salomon Farm Park to bring a new holiday tradition to Fort Wayne with their production of A Christmas Carol.
Performances, set for Dec. 1-11, will be held in an immersive environment at Salomon Farm Park’s historic Old Barn and will include local talent.
Coinciding with Salomon Farm’s Christmas on the Farm, the script has been adapted from Charles Dickens’ original text by Chapman Shields and Summit City Music Theatre’s Artistic Director Gavin Thomas Drew, who will also direct the show. It promises to become a new Fort Wayne holiday tradition.
The theatrical group will be seeking a diverse group of actors of all abilities. Open auditions will take place Sept. 18 at The Charles on Carroll Road.
SCMT has set a precedent for immersive stagings, including Little Shop of Horrors at Connolly’s Do it Best Greenhouse and The Addams Family at The Charles.

Interactive art show at Bread & Circus
Bread and Circus Art Gallery, 3400 N. Anthony Blvd., will hold a “title-less” art show May 19 from 5-9 p.m.
Featuring Delaney MeSun Shin, Amber Cox, and Amanda Gargac, this show “features three women making work that confronts human connection from the emotional, physical, to the cellular level,” according to their Facebook page.
Visitors are invited to experience the artwork and then write a title they find fitting, connecting the audience with the artists and each other.
Music will be provided by DJ Olique, and food will be available from Same City food truck.
Girls on the Run ready to take off May 22
Girls on the Run will present their annual Mascot Dash and Celebratory 5K on Sunday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. behind Helmke Library at the Purdue University Fort Wayne.

Mercado teaching adults to cook
Johnny Perez of Mercado on the Landing will be teaching an adult cooking class May 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Wholesome Roots Cooking, 14411 Lima Road.
Perez will focus on the art of plating and presentation as participants make West Coast shrimp tostadas and guacamole.

Free foraging hike at Metea Park
On Wednesday, May 25, from 7-8:30 p.m., Bob Dispenza will lead a free foraging hike through Metea Park, sponsored by Eco Fest.
Dispenza will help participants identify items such as ramps, spring beauties, spicebush, sassafras, and berries.

Book signing at Hyde Brothers
Hyde Brothers welcomes author Helen Frost and illustrator Rick Lieder to their Wells Street store for a book signing Friday, May 20, from 5-7 p.m.
Longtime collaborators, Frost and Lieder will be doing the book signing in celebration of the release of their new children’s book, Wait and See: a celebration of the praying mantis told through lyrical words and stunning nature photography.
The book and their other titles will be available to purchase and pre-order.
Greatest Showman revue at First Pres
First Presbyterian Theater presents a musical revue, The Greatest Showman: A Celebration of Humanity, May 20-22.
Using the music from the 2017 film starring Hugh Jackman and its message of acceptance and love, the revue tells its own story of people embracing their lives to reach their dreams through song and dance.
Directed by Todd Sandman Cruz, with music direction by Gary Amstutz and choreography by Heather Closson, the show is rated G. Tickets are available at the door or at firstpresfortwayne.org/theater.
