Official word on the 2021 Fort4Fitness is on hold until the Fort Way Tincaps schedule is announced since they have primary use of Parkview Field.
But one component of the event has been announced, and it starts in just over a month.
The Kids Marathon, wherein young people achieve their fitness goals over the course of a few months, kicks off on May 4.
According to the website, “The goal of Kids Marathon is for each registered child to complete a marathon throughout the summer by logging miles through walking, running, biking, swimming, playing baseball, and more. They rack up 25 miles or more during the summer and then complete their final 1.2 miles at the Fall Festival on Friday night. Throughout the summer, the Kickoff and Family Fun & Fitness events are held as a way to provide an opportunity to log miles and take part in fun activities centered around health and fitness.”
Signup begins 3:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, at Turnstone Center’s Plassman Athletic Center. Registration is just $10 through July 31 and $15 after that date.
The 10th annual Spring Cycle also takes place 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 5.

Zoo Revenue
The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is used to a lot of foot traffic, and last year was a challenging one for them. But as they look ahead to better days, they’re also looking for inventive ways to raise some needed funds.
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has arranged for a virtual concert, featuring popular country music acts, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31. For a $30 contribution, viewers get exclusive access to performers and performances featuring Brad Paisley, Old Dominion, Ashley McBryde, Wynonna Judd, Riley Green, Jessie James Decker, and Shy Carter.
While many are still opting to stick close to home in the weeks or months ahead, this provides a chance for some great entertainment as well as an opportunity to help our local zoo, one of our premier attractions.
