Fundraisers are an important part of gaining financial and community support for area not-for-profit organizations.
But in the age of COVID, many of those events have been put aside or adapted.
A couple local organizations have found virtual ways to share their upcoming events, and there are ways to help while enjoying some entertainment from home.
Cancer Services’ Comedy night
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana’s Comedy Night will take place virtually 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, with Kevin Bozeman as the headliner.
Bozeman is a nationally touring comedian who has appeared on numerous TV series and specials including those on Comedy Central, NBC, CBS, and Fox.
He earned national attention when he was named the winner of the Midwest region of the HBO Comedy Competition. He was also seen on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and was a semi-finalist on NBC’s comedy competition, Last Comic Standing.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 at cancer-services.org and include one complimentary ticket for the prize drawing as well as access to a link for the show.
Children’s Choir raising funds
The following Saturday, Feb. 27, Fort Wayne Children’s Choir hosts a virtual fundraiser from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Do Re Mi is the choir’s opportunity to fund their mission which provides early musical literacy for children of diverse backgrounds and talents. Through song and performances, children acquire the building blocks of music education which can open up their minds and musical talents as they mature.
The preshow intro begins at 6:30 p.m. with the livestream performance beginning at 7. For more information and to register for the event, visit fwcchoir.org.
