It’s time to party like it’s 1899. When The Electric Amish hit the stage at Flashback Live on Feb. 8, you’ll find out first hand why this parody band has been a Bob & Tom Show favorite for more than a decade. It’s an act you need to see at least once, even if it’s just to check it off your bucket list.

Consisting of fictional brothers Graber, Carl, and Barry Goodman, The Electric Amish perform unique takes on well-known songs using references from the Amish and Mennonite cultures. The fact that Indiana has several areas densely populated with Amish allows us some familiarity with the culture and the stereotypes associated with it, which is why the jokes work so well here. 

While a strict Amish upbringing allows for no electricity from land lines, no alcohol, and no musical instruments, The Electric Amish aren’t afraid to break those rules as they power through several of their “hits” like “We’re An Amish Band,” to the tune of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re An American Band,” “Sweet Home Indiana” which borrows heavily from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and, of course, “Barn To Be Wild” which needs no explanation. 

It’ll be Fort Wayne’s own winter Rumspringa when The Electric Amish present their winning combination of music and laughter, a sure-fire cure for those cold weather blues.
