Christmas in Fort Wayne has always been a magical time of year. Our city lights up with activities, events, dining experiences, and light displays perfect for anyone.

Whether you’re searching for family fun, romantic evenings, or a place to simply soak in the season’s cheer, this guide ensures you’ll celebrate Christmas in style.

Morning: Christmas Eve Delights

Start your holiday adventure by immersing yourself in the spirit of the season at Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.

Their Gnome for the Holidays exhibit is a family favorite, featuring whimsical gnome-themed displays, vibrant poinsettia trees, and beautiful holiday decorations.

This charming exhibit that continues through Jan. 5 creates a perfect setting for a morning stroll, where you can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of festive florals and take photos among the colorful arrangements.

Next, if you’re in the mood for a bit of history, consider visiting Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

While the museum may not have seasonal exhibits, the classic collections offer a peaceful and inspiring setting, ideal for an afternoon of reflection.

For more on their current exhibits, check out our story on Page 6.

Afternoon: Outdoor Adventures and Shopping

In the afternoon, head outdoors for some winter fun at Headwaters Park ice skating rink, where you can glide across the ice surrounded by the city’s festive decorations.

Skating here is a perfect way to enjoy the crisp winter air, and the rink often hosts themed skating nights that add extra fun to your day.

For those who prefer a more laid-back afternoon, spend some time shopping locally.

Downtown Fort Wayne has a wide range of boutiques that specialize in unique gifts, making it the perfect spot to pick up a last-minute present. From handcrafted jewelry to cozy holiday décor, these stores provide a charming alternative to the usual big-box shopping experience.

I suggest stopping at Fancy & Staple, 1111 Broadway, for last-minute stocking stuffers and seasonal wrapping paper.

Evening: Dinner and a Show

Following a day of adventure, treat yourself to a festive dinner.

Copper Spoon, known for its delicious seasonal menu and inviting atmosphere, is a cozy choice. The upscale yet relaxed vibe makes it a perfect spot to indulge in elevated dishes while soaking in the Christmas cheer.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, Copper Spoon will host a Holiday Brunch, with reservations encouraged.

Alternatively, head to Conner’s Kitchen + Bar, located inside the Courtyard Marriott, for a more upbeat dining experience featuring hearty comfort food and craft cocktails.

Experience the Lights: Fort Wayne’s Best Displays

As the evening sets in, make sure to visit Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps, where the stadium is transformed into a magical winter wonderland during Holiday Lights.

With more than 1 million lights choreographed to holiday music, this walk-through display is truly a sight to behold. Enjoy festive displays, take a ride on the holiday train, and even roast s’mores at one of the stations — it’s an experience that’s fun for the entire family.

Another impressive light display can be found at Franke Park, where Blue Jacket’s Fantasy of Lights drive-thru event takes you through a sparkling 3-mile stretch of holiday lights.

This is the perfect activity for a cozy evening with loved ones, offering both a relaxing drive and a chance to walk through the Christmas Village, where you can find food and craft vendors

Christmas Day Highlights

Though many places in Fort Wayne close on Christmas Day, there are still a few ways to enjoy the holiday spirit.

For a laid-back experience, take a scenic drive through downtown, where you’ll find beautiful holiday lights throughout the area, including the illuminated displays at Parkview Field.

If you’re in the mood for a low-key holiday movie marathon, Cinema Center offers a warm, welcoming environment to enjoy classic films on the big screen.

Alternatively, many local restaurants will have takeout options available, so you can indulge in a delicious holiday meal from the comfort of your home.

Make this holiday season unforgettable with Fort Wayne’s festive spirit! And from all of us at Whatzup, happy holidays!
