Klemm’s Candlelight Cafe, 1207 E. State Blvd., is changing hands, as owners Chris and Kara Hoeppner are selling to the owners of Liberty Diner.
While they may be moving on from Klemm’s, the Hoeppners, who own also Champ’s Nashville Hot Chicken in Auburn, plan to open a Champ’s in Georgetown Square in January.
Along with new ownership at Klemm’s, the beloved Green Frog Inn, 820 Spring St., has reopened with new owner Eric Kissinger.
Kissinger is a longtime resident of Fort Wayne and a business owner. He promises to keep the spirit of the Bloomingdale neighborhood bar the same, but according to a press release, he has made some enhancements that include a menu makeover with “Bites, Burgers, and Baskets” and improvements to the kitchen, sound system, furniture, and branding.
The bar is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Plenty of quality eats at Coliseum
County Heritage Winery is now on the menu at Memorial Coliseum.
They are serving wine slushies at the Corner Bar on the 200 Level of the arena. You can also enjoy charcuterie boards with wine. There will be seasonal favorites, including pumpkin spice and a holly jolly Christmas flavor.
The Coliseum also unveiled some off-menu items from their east and west food courts on the 200 level.
On the east end, Appleseed Burger Company and BBQ 58, named for the USS Indiana BB-58 — the ship’s anchor is on display outside the coliseum near the eternal flame. You can enjoy a new smash burger, grilled macaroni and cheese, pulled pork and BBQ beef, and rotisserie chicken.
Italian and Asian fare are available on the west end with Slice’d Pizza, Submarinos, and Wok This Wayne.
Something’s brewing at Fort Wayne airport
Expansion at Fort Wayne International Airport brings a new restaurant and coffee shop.
Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee have been set up with the expansion in the east wing of the terminal. The goal is to improve the customer experience and do it with a local flavor. Hop River features open seating and a large bar with local beers.
Raising Cane’s sets Dec. 5 opening date
Raising Cane’s has announced their opening date for their first Fort Wayne location in Northcrest Shopping Center, 701 Coliseum Blvd. E.
The chicken fingers chain is expected to open Dec. 5 in the space that was once occupied by Pizza Hut.
Operators say it will bring 100 new jobs to the city. By the way, hiring begins Nov. 11.

Two-EE’s Winery unveils lounge
Two-EE’s Winery just south of Roanoke on U.S. 24 is showing off their new lounge.
The renovated space is warm and luxurious with chandeliers, plush velvet chairs, and couches.
Junk Ditch announces final day will be Nov. 23
Junk Ditch Brewing Company, 1825 W. Main St., took to social media in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 29, to disclose their final day of operations would be Wednesday, Nov. 23.
In the post, they vow to help staff find new employment and sell off the beer they have available.
“We want to thank you for all the support you have shown this company over the last nine years. It truly has been a pleasure serving you and we hope to see you in before November 23.”
Grab baked goods at St. Nicholas
The women’s guild of St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, 3535 Crescent Ave., is hosting its fall bake sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
They’ll have handmade pierogies, pitas, baklava, breads, and desserts. The potato, onion, and cheese pierogies are available for pre-order through Nov. 6 by emailing stnicholasfwguild@gmail.com.
Kekionga hosting chili competition Nov. 9
Kekionga Craft Co., 7328 Maysville Road, will crown a chili champ at its second-annual chili cook-off Saturday, Nov. 9.
