In February, The Fabulous Thunderbirds stopped in town for a performance at The Clyde Theatre, and, unfortunately, it sounds like I missed a good one that evening.

Founding member Kim Wilson and his tight unit of musical pros put on about as good a blues show that you’re going to get, running down their lengthy catalog including hits “Wrap It Up” and “Tuff Enuff.”

A few months following the show at The Clyde, the band celebrated their 50th anniversary with the release of their first studio album in eight years, Struck Down. This gem features guest appearances by Billy Gibbons, Elvin Bishop, Bonnie Raitt, Keb’Mo’, Taj Mahal, and Mick Fleetwood.

You will have the opportunity to hear these new numbers live when they come back through the area Friday, March 21, for a performance at Eagles Theatre in Wabash.

If you’ve seen these cats before or are a failure like myself, be sure to make it a point to check them out this time around.

Tickets can be purchased via honeywellarts.org or by stopping by the box office at Honeywell Center.

In addition, Honeywell Arts & Entertainment also announced some shows destined for Honeywell Center, including Montgomery Gentry: Featuring Eddie Montgomery on March 15, RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles on March 20, and MJ Live: Michael Jackson Tribute Concert on May 1, as well as the Glenn Miller Orchestra on May 23 at Eagles Theatre.

The Eclectic Room announces closure

On Thursday, Oct. 17, The Eclectic Room in Angola took to social media to announce they were closing their doors.

“I have been pondering on how to say this and what to say for a week. But with extreme sadness and lots of tears The Eclectic Room is closing its doors,” read the post, which has since been deleted. “This has been the hardest decision to make but when things just don’t make business sense any longer it’s time to change.”

They went on to thank everyone for their support over the years.

Like many other folks, I’ve seen some amazing shows there and they will certainly be missed. Thanks for the memories!
