Arts United have announced the projects for the 2024 cycle of Amplify Art, a crowdfunding campaign designed to support arts and culture projects in northeast Indiana.
The fundraising campaign runs through Friday, Oct. 25, which includes community members supporting a project by donating online and through social media advocacy. PNC Bank will match every gift made dollar for dollar up to $2,000 per project.
The crowdfunding campaign will be through Arts United’s platform, Amplify Art, a social media-based program that mobilizes community support and awareness of diverse creative projects happening in northeast Indiana.
The five projects selected for the fall cycle with a $4,000 goal are:
Paint the Crosswalks, Auburn Main Street — The Paint the Crosswalks project is focused on using local artists to paint the crosswalks to positively impact the downtown Auburn community.
Exploring the Arts at Camp Red Cedar, Camp Red Cedar — Camp Red Cedar provides summer camp and recreational therapy experiences to children and adults of all abilities, including mainstream dance, music, creative movement, and other arts and culture programming.
Fort Wayne Youth Market Fund, Healing Hands Night Market — Healing Hands Night Market, a local arts and wares market, has started accepting youth vendors free of charge. The goal is to make vending accessible for underserved kids who may otherwise be unable to participate in the market due to limited resources needed for vending or doing their craft.
Free Flowers for North Side, Jon Mendelson — Artist Jon Mendelson will bring a vibrant peony bouquet mural to Layla’s Thrift Store, where it will greet visitors as they enter the historic Northside Neighborhood. This project will celebrate and enhance the beauty of the community, creating a lasting symbol of elegance and charm.
Bleeding Ears: Feature Narrative Film Project, Shanel Turner, Relatively Conscious — This Fort Wayne filmmaking project tells the story of a young Black woman from the city, in a coming-of-age tale that will hit close to home for so many women. The themes are loss, sacrifice, and courage.

Coliseum going cashless for concessions
To provide faster service and a more convenient experience, all food and beverage concessions inside Memorial Coliseum, as well as merchandise stands at select events, will transition to a cashless payment system beginning with the Fort Wayne Komets home opener on Friday, Oct. 25.
Debit cards, credit cards, and mobile payment options, but not cash, will be accepted. The ticket office and parking booths will continue to accept cash.
Guests can exchange cash for food and beverage cards at the information booth, located in the lower rotunda just inside the Arena & Expo entrance. They cannot be used at the ticket office or parking booths. Cards are not reloadable or refundable.
The Pearl opens downtown on Main Street
City of Fort Wayne officials joined representatives from Surack Enterprises and Weigand Construction on Oct. 9 to celebrate the grand opening for The Pearl in downtown Fort Wayne.
The public is invited to tour The Pearl during an open house from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The Pearl is a seven-story, mixed-use, multi-family project housing 76 apartments, five live-work units, nearly 13,000 square feet of commercial space, and a 4,500-square-foot event space.
Crescendo Coffee & Café has also opened in The Pearl, with Amoré: Italian, Steak, & Seafood and Ducky’s at The Pearl on the way.
Amoré, opening in November, features traditional Italian cuisine paired with modern upscale dining in a comfortable and intimate setting.
Ducky’s, set to open in early 2025, is a family friendly, full-service restaurant featuring duckpin bowling. It’s the latest venture of local restaurateurs Johnny Perez and Esli Barrón Perez of Te Gustó Hospitality.
Also on the ground floor, The Pearl Event Center is now open for booking with a capacity of up to 300 people seated at tables or 400 people seated conference style.
