Fort Wayne’s Loose Focus want to rock you. Rock you gently, rock you hard, rock you till your ears ring for days. Then they are going to buy you a beer and pat you on the back.

They recently dropped their full-length debut Vintage Furs, a throwback to mid-to-late ’90s post-grunge rock anthems that touch on everything from Foo Fighters to 3 Doors Down to Stone Temple Pilots and even some classic AOR, a la David Bowie and Grand Funk Railroad.

If you grew up in the Fort in the ’90s listening to 96.3 The Edge, or Rock 104 WXKE in the ’70s and ’80s, then Loose Focus have got your number: big riffs, subtle grooves, and plenty of big rock energy. What you get with Vintage Furs is big guitars, belted vocals, and a solid rhythm section.

Out of the gate you get hit in the face with “Not Sure,” a big, dramatic rocker, touching on the alt rock and classic rock worlds. Bits of Queens of the Stone Age come through in the vocal melodies letting you know this band know their way around a rock hook. “Loveties” goes for an almost pop rock flavor touching on Cheap Trick vibes, while “Life Is Grand” pulls you in with a groovy guitar. It brings to mind the early ’90s heyday of bands like Blues Traveler as well as Indiana’s own The Why Store.

Besides ’90s rock vibes, you get some serious ’70s riff rock as well in songs like “Time Will Tell” and “Echo Charlie.” There’s everything from Kiss to The Rolling Stones to Spirit wrapped up in these fuzzed out rock bangers.

Loose Focus leave no rock n’ roll stone unturned with riffs for days and pop hooks to keep you coming back for more.
