Local rock n’ roll machine Loose Focus have released their debut album, Vintage Furs, to all major streaming services.

This gem was recorded in bassist Drew Mark’s basement studio, better known as Laced Records.

All the tracks were written and performed by Mark and guitarist Matt Swick while they were in previous bands, but were never recorded. Once they added guitarist Lucy Lichtle to the mix, they decided to record and release the material.

“We felt Vintage Furs was kind of an apropos title considering we were dusting off some old material to breathe new life into,” Swick said of the album.

In the end, the album features eight tracks, including “Not Sure,” “Life Is Grand,” and “The Ghost of Emmett Till.”

In addition, they’ve been performing live with multiple drummers the past two years, but the primary focus has been recording and releasing the album.

They are working with a collective of musicians to continue to write and record material and will be solidifying a lineup to start actively booking events to support the album.

All Star releases single

The talented Lisa McDavid has released a new single, “Sista Soul Sister.”

The song is a methodical mashup of ’70s soul anthems reminiscent of The Staple Singers, Jean Knight, and Betty Wright, which inspires, empowers, and champions the resilience of sisterhood.

The song features Cliff Barnes on bass and synth horns and Jere B with additional sounds and noises.

You can take a listen on YouTube or purchase it on soundoctrine.com.

Don’t forget, you can always catch McDavid performing as a member of The Sweetwater All Stars, who will be at The Club Room at The Clyde on Friday, Sept. 13, and at downtown Huntington’s Music in the City on Saturday, Sept. 14.
