Bad Wolves are out in support of their acclaimed 2023 album Die About It that includes “Hungry for Life” which features Grammy-nominated rock singer Chris Daughtry.

Dishwater Blonde play free Sweetwater show

At noon on Friday, Sept. 6, the Sweetwater Live at Lunch concert series will include Knoxville, Tennessee’s Dishwater Blonde

This all-original soul and funk band was formed in the mid-90s by two friends who met while camping in line for Prince tickets.

Guitarist/vocalist Davis Mitchell and bassist Robby Mathis began writing together with inspiration from Prince, Morris Day & The Time, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & The Family Stone, Lenny Kravitz, and more. They ended up putting together a rotating lineup of seasoned musicians in Knoxville, and the rest is history.

In case you’re wondering, they got the name Dishwater Blonde from a line in a lesser known Prince song called “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.”

This show is free and will take place on Sweetwater’s Crescendo Club Stage.

Shane Mauss gets psychedelic at Summit City

On Thursday, Sept. 27, Shane Mauss will take to the Summit City Comedy Club stage with his acclaimed stand-up show A Good Trip.

Mauss has appeared on Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Showtime, in addition to specials on Comedy Central and Netflix.

His shows are not your standard stand-up routines of set-ups and punchlines. Instead, Mauss shares personal experiences and talks about the effects of hallucinogens. No, it’s not a bunch of stupid pot jokes, but a funny journey through the stigma, history, laws, and science of psychedelics.

If Mauss is new to you, perhaps start by checking out his Amazon Prime documentary Psychonautics: A Comic’s Exploration of Psychedelics, a film where a crew followed him along 111-city psychedelic comedy tour.

Tickets can be purchased at summitcitycomedy.com.
