Chicago’s newest festival Warm Love Cool Dreams is set to take place at The Salt Shed, Sept. 28-29.

We all know Chicago needs more festivals, right? Well, this one boasts performances by The Jesus Lizard, Kelela, Sextile, Floating Points, King Woman, Shabaka, and more.

The multi-genre event features no overlapping sets and was reportedly inspired by a line from Nelson Algren’s novel The Man with the Golden Arm where he writes, “The simplicity and beauty of the ideas of warm love and cool dreams was something that occupied my mind for many years,” festival curator Brent Heyl said in a statement. “We wanted to build a festival framework that creates an opportunity to showcase the artists we love in a way that is concise, unique, and also rips. Playing into these two concepts feels like the way to do just that.”

Bob Mould plans solo tour

Hüsker Dü singer and guitarist Bob Mould plans to set out on a solo tour this fall featuring dates in clubs across North America. With support from J Robbins and Che Arthur, the trek includes stops at The Ark in Ann Arbor on Sept. 18 and The Prairie Center in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg on Sept. 20.

Ahead of his fall tour dates, Mold will also perform at Empty Bottle in Chicago on July 25 and at the Nelsonville Music Festival at Snow Fork Event Center in Nelsonville, Ohio, on Sept. 27.

Catch metal pioneers Anvil

Canadian heavy metal rockers Anvil will be embarking on a comprehensive tour of the U.S. during their titled One and Only: USA 2024 tour.

As you might recall, Anvil gained heightened popularity after a documentary, appropriately titled Anvil: The Story of Anvil, about their career-long struggles in the music business.

They are touring in support of their latest studio album One and Only, which was released on June 28. The album is the band’s 20th studio album.

Anvil have been cited as having influenced many heavy metal bands that have achieved much greater commercial success, including the Big Four of Thrash: Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica.

Check them out as the finish the tour with a show at Reggie’s in Chicago on Aug. 22 followed by The Sanctuary in Detroit on Aug. 24, and The Winchester in Cleveland on Aug 25.

Plan for holiday concert

The Wizards of Winter have announced holiday shows for 2024.

With former members of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Trixter guitarist Steve Brown on board, this band delivers an amazing holiday rock show, very much like their counterparts in Trans-Siberian Orchestra but on a much smaller scale.

While it may seem too early to think about the snow, you will want to get your tickets early to see this show when it stops by Goshen Theatre in Goshen on Dec. 6.

Co-headlining tour

The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Psychedelic Furs are joining forces for a co-headlining North American tour this fall.

The 27-date trek will stop at Cathedral Theatre at Masonic Temple in Detroit on Oct. 11, Murat Theatre at Old National Centre in Indianapolis on Oct. 12, and The Salt Shed in Chicago on Oct. 13.

Two days before joining forces for the tour, The Psychedelic Furs will play at Riverfront Live in Cincinnati on Sept. 27.

The Jesus & Mary Chain released their latest album, Glasgow Eyes, this year, while The Psychedelic Furs released their eighth studio album, Made of Rain, in 2020.
