Upheaval is a two-day, mostly hard rock summer music festival at Belknap Park in Grand Rapids slated for July 14-15.
The opening night headliners include Bring Me The Horizon and Lamb of God, while Falling In Reverse and Halestorm finish things off the following evening.
Along with the headliners, rockers Ice Nine Kills will be there with In This Moment, The Ghost Inside, Asking Alexandria, and Suicide Silence. If that’s not enough, Gwar will take over The Intersection in Grand Rapids on Friday night as an official after-party show and Wage War will do the same on Saturday night.
Single-day tickets are selling for $85 with two-day packages being $159.
Ice Nine Kills are must-see
In addition to their appearance at Upheaval, Ice Nine Kills will head out on the Fear The Premiere tour in August.
The band’s ability to combine expert musicianship, great songs, and theatrical performances has given them a reputation for being a top must-see live band in the current hard rock scene.
Providing support on the tour will be August Burns Red and Veil of Maya.
You can catch this trio when the tour stops at Kemba Live! in Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 8 and Agora Theatre in Cleveland the following night.
Hives to support album
Swedish rock act The Hives have confirmed a tour this fall to support their upcoming album The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, set to be released on Aug. 11.
Their taste of success came with the release of the 2000 album Veni Vidi Vicious, an album that contained the single “Hate To Say I Told You So.” They have released only three albums since but have failed to again reach those heights of commercial success.
The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons will be their first studio album since 2012’s Lex Hives.
A proven live act that won’t disappoint, check them out in at El Club in Detroit on Nov. 4 or Bottom Lounge in Chicago on Nov. 5.
Country stars flock to Ohio
Tens of thousands of people make the trek to Fort Loramie, Ohio, every year for Country Concert, featuring the biggest names in country music.
The 42nd annual festival will be no exception. The three-day event has booked Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, and Luke Bryan to headline the weekend.
Joining the festival will be Brothers Osbourne, Jelly Roll, Elle King, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, Tracy Lawrence, and Blackhawk.
Camping spots are available and single-day tickets start at $148.
Bash on the Bay returns
While we’re at it, another destination for country music fans should be Put-In-Bay in Ohio, Aug. 23-24
Bash on the Bay will include Luke Bryan and Brothers Osbourne, as well as Elle King, Dylan Scott, Ashland Craft, and Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull.
A beautiful place to spend some time even when there isn’t a music festival, the only way to get there is to take a ferry from Port Clinton or Catawba Island, east of Toledo.
Of course, the ferries will be adding late-night service during the event so concertgoers can enjoy the show without worrying about getting stranded.
